Both of them feature ruthless characters who will stop at nothing for ultimate power. Both deal with the changing intolerance of their respective ages. The only thing missing are the tight fitting spandex outfits, but hey, a man can dream, right?

Hugh Jackman is already hitting the gym for a sequel to the just-released X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and Nicktoons just ordered 26 more episodes of Wolverine and the X-Men.
The animated show was a big hit on Nicktoons, helping give the network its highest-ratings ever in key demos. The new eps will kick off May 22.
I know a lot of X-Men fans had problems with Wolverine and the X-Men, but I love the show. Being a Cyclops fan (yes, we do exist), it sorta bugs me that Wolverine is billed as the leader of the X-Men on the show, but that's a minor complaint. The show is fun, packed with cool, somewhat obscure Marvel mutants, and it's pretty entertaining for kids and adults.
Question: how many freakin' versions of the original Star Trek are there on DVD? It seems like there's a new released every six months. And the funny thing? I bet hardcore Trek fans will buy all of them.

In case you didn't get the message with the DVD release of Next Avengers or Hulk Vs., Marvel wants to remind you that ninety percent of its animated output is incredibly awful. That's probably why they're finally releasing the '90s X-Men animated series on DVD.
Stop right there, X-Men fans; lemme explain my love-hate relationship with this series before you start typing four-letter words in the comments section.
I watched this cartoon on Fox faithfully as a kid, and I really loved it. It brought many of the classic X-Men comics stories to life – even some of the weirder ones – and introduced a generation of non-comic book fans to Wolverine, Cyclops and the rest of the gang. But even as a kid it was hard not to wince at the awful animation, the over-the-top voice acting, and the ridiculous melodramatic vibe of it all. Compared to the more sophisticated Batman: The Animated Series, which also aired during the early '90s, this thing looked and felt like an old episode of Thundercats, which was a shame.
It took a while, but the X-Men are finally heading back to TV. Nicktoons premieres the third X-Men animated series, Wolverine and The X-Men, on January 23, and I'm happy to report that Brett Ratner's name does not appear on the credits list.
I caught the first few episodes at last summer's San Diego Comic-Con, but I failed to show up at least two days before the screening. The line to get in was unbelievably long, and I ended up in the back of the screening room with a giant pole blocking my view. (The guy in the Rorschach costume sitting next to me was pissed!) Hugh Jackman, probably the only Tony Award-winner to be named People's "Sexiest Man Alive," will host this year's Academy Awards ceremony. Yep, it's an odd pick. The last few Oscar night hosts have been comedians (Jon Stewart, Ellen DeGeneres, Chris Rock), but something tells me this broadcast will be the funniest in years.
Why? Because Hugh Jackman likes to sing. And dance. And he usually looks pretty silly when he does those things at the same time, like in that episode of Viva Laughlin.

6:30 a.m., Planet of the Apes (FMC) – Prepare for Turkey Day by watching Charlton Heston give evolution (that cruel joker) a one-two punch in the face. Followed by a documentary about the POTA movies and several episodes of the 1974 TV series.
7 a.m., Angel "Offspring" (TNT) – Darla shows up preggers on Angel's doorstep in this tense season three ep, written by co-creator David Greenwalt.
8 a.m., Biography: Batman (Biography Channel) – Adam West and Burt Ward guide you through a look back at the 60s Batman TV show. Followed by Adam West: Behind the Cowl and bios of Catwoman and Wonder Woman Lynda Carter. Holy awesomeness, Batman!
It's a pretty big marketing campaign, based on what I read in the article. There will be posters and references in panels of various comics.
I wonder how the creators feel about that? Will it interfere with a story or piece of art? Will they get renumeration for putting the advertisements in their stories (much as TV writers were looking for a piece of the advertising dollars for putting product placement in their scripts).
The idea for a Firefly based MMORPG is one that has been floating around for a long time. When the show was first canceled, that was among the many ideas for ways to keep flying. Now comes word that Multiverse has struck a deal with Fox Licensing to make the game. Wired has the complete story.
In a nutshell, Multiverse is a company founded by a team of Netscape veterans. Their aim is to create a universal platform that independent developers can create games on. The advantage being that it will be easier for smaller teams to develop games, and consumers will have the advantage of using one client that is able to play the various Multiverse products. Reportedly, there are already 7000 development teams working with the platform. The Firefly game is the big feather in the Multiverse cap that will get them some much needed mainstream press. Like this.

Look for Goners, Wonder Woman, the Buffy and X-Men comics, and the possible future of Firefly to all factor into the conversation. You would recognize Jay's voice as much as his face, as he voiced an incredible number of cartoons over the years, including The Hunchback of Notre Dame,Reboot, Spiderman, Teen Titans, Superman, The Mighty Ducks, Gargoyles, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, as well as a massive number of videogames: World of Warcraft, X-Men Legends, Lionhearts, various Star Trek games, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, and just about every other video game ever made that used a voice. But he had live action roles in TV and movies too, including Lois and Clark, Newhart, The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr., Mr. Belvedere, Twin Peaks, Beauty and the Beast, Eerie, Indiana, Matlock, Murphy Brown, Picket Fences, and The Golden Girls. He was also a Royal Shakespeare Company actor and a singer.
He died earlier this week after surgery for removal of a non-cancerous growth on his lungs.
