(S04E26) This is it, people. The time has come to name the winner of
America's Got Talent, the world's biggest talent search. The two-hour (!) final results bash included performances from
Britain's Got Talent sensation Susan Boyle,
The X Factor's Leona Lewis, Thelma Houston, Cirque du Soleil, Rascal Flatts, and Shakira. Sadly, none of the previous
AGT winners performed.
Based on the
TV Squad poll I've included in
my review of the Top 10 performance show, 35.1% of the voters, including myself, said Barbara Padilla would win. Kevin Skinner received 22.2% of your votes, while Recycled Percussion placed third in our poll with 19.4%. The other contestants all got under 7% of your votes. (Note that these results were accurate at the beginning of the results show.)
Did the TV Squad poll results match reality? Official results coming up!

And the King or Queen of the jungle is .... don't worry, I won't spoil the answer on the first page of the post! You'll have to click through to know more and comment on the results.
I've started watching
I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! from mid-week 2 and was sucked in immediately as I usually am with most reality TV series that revolve around surviving in new and unfamiliar surroundings. I must say I was quite impressed with Lou Diamond Phillips from the start. I loved his leadership qualities and his helpfulness towards his "junglemates." He is one of the main reasons why I watched the remaining episodes and even caught up with the week 1
Speidi drama! Was I glad that they ended up leaving for good after all the drama and quitting/coming back!
Want to know who was named King or Queen of the jungle after surviving 24 days in a Costa Rica jungle? Click ahead!

If you are a fan of
The Celebrity Apprentice, you should have watched Sunday's two-hour episode by now and know that Joan Rivers and Annie Duke will face off in the ultimate task.
On April 23, I asked TV Squad readers to vote in an
Annie Vs Joan poll. The question was simple "Who should win the war?" At the time I write this line, 43.3% voted for Joan, 35.4% said Annie, while 21.1% opted for Trump to fire them both. That means 21.1% of you are disappointed this week, as Trump decided to make Joan and Annie the two finalists.
No matter if you like or hate Annie and/or Joan, you have to admit that out of the four contestants that were left at the beginning of the episode, those two will offer the most entertaining finale. Now that we know it's officially Joan Vs. Annie, who do you think should be hired?

Last night Adam won $500,000 on
Big Brother 9. Now, I know I heard Julie Chen tell them she'd be giving Adam his check and Ryan his winnings of $50,000 on
The Early Show as is the standard practice. So, I turned on TV as I was heading out the door to my day job only to hear them say that Julie Chen has the day off today. Huh? I didn't bother recording as they didn't mention
BB9 at all.
But there they were -- taped after the finale last night. I found
the video of the interview on the CBS website. It's not embeddable, but if you follow me after the jump, I'll bring up some of the main points ... or, at least the ones I found interesting!

(
S03E23) Season three went out with a bang. Cat said in the opening that the show was a full two hours, with no padding. She wasn't kidding. If we count the two musical guests, and the goofy animated Cat/Nigel dance number, there were 18 performances. 18!
There were a few video montages looking back over the season, but with the exception of the one that featured Sex (we really didn't need to revisit that), all of them were pretty well done, and kept the show moving right along. There was just very little not to like about this show. Ok, there were a couple things, but we'll get to them, as well as the big winner, after the jump.

Dark Horse Comics, publisher of the
forthcoming Buffy the Vampire Slayer comic, is hosting a
Buffy writing contest. In 250 words or less, describe how
Buffy has changed your life. I know, I know, only 250 words. People have written entire treatise on the subject, but you're just going to have to embrace the pithy and make every syllable count. Joss Whedon will be selecting the winner and five runners-up himself. What will the numero uno winner receive? Oh, it's almost too cool for words. In addition to a
Buffy lithograph and a signed copy of the first issue, you will appear in an upcoming issue of the comic. You - in comic form - with Buffy! Well, maybe, you'll be with Buffy. You might be in some vampire crowd shot or something. It's hard to say. What's the life of a comic book extra like anyway?
Entries are being accepted at
Dark Horses' MySpace page from now until March 14th. Winners will be notified by April 4th. Happy slaying.

Tomorrow night's episode of
Ugly Betty will feature a dress designed by one of the show's viewers. Announced a few weeks back, the show held a
design-a-dress contest in which viewers could submit sketches of a dress made entirely of office supplies. The winning bubble wrap, newspaper and paper clip confection was
created by Ricardo Rodriguez of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Ricardo was flown out to LA and attended the taping of "Derailed," the episode which will feature his design.
The conceit of the episode is that Christina only has a few hours to create a dress for a prominent celebrity, but a blizzard prevents her from the leaving the office for fabric. Fortunately, she's a crafty lady and, like Scarlett O'Hara, Carol Burnett and Julie Andrews before her, uses whatever is available to whip up a celeb-worthy creation.

Our friends at the
New York Television Festival gleefully sent us a press release today announcing that the rights to one of the pilots that showed at the festival in September -- and was
covered like a blanket by TVS -- has been picked up by a major network.
Split the Difference, which won both the comedy competition and the
TV Guide Audience Award, is the first scripted pilot to be picked up in the two-year history of the festival, as well as the first to be picked up by a major network. It's a mockumentary-style comedy that revolves around the rivalry-filled and phony world of making television commercials.
I thought it was by far the funniest pilot in the comedy competition, but that the mockumentary format would have to change so it didn't look like
The Office at an advertising firm. Good to see we'll get a chance to see how this show gets developed. You can see the full press release after the jump. And you can still see the pilot
on MSN.

FX is kicking off a contest to encourage viewers to come up with their own comedy sitcom pilot with the chance of having it air on the network. If you think you have what it takes, well, you're too late because the deadline is today. Yeah, I know, but I didn't learn of this until last night. On June 19, the top twenty entries will be chosen and shown on the contest's MySpace page, with the winner being shown during the second season premiere of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia on June 29. It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia was actually picked up after its creators taped a pilot for just two hundred dollars. The winner will receive $50,000 from the network to turn their idea into a full-length show.

If, while tending your garden today, you suddenly trip over a rake, fall into a wormhole in the fabric of space and time and wind up in the Maritime Hotel in New York City on June 16, you should stick around because you can bid on a dinner date with Sean Yazbeck, the latest winner of The Apprentice. Tammy Trenta, also a contestant on The Apprentice, has set up the event and charity auction as a means to raise money for the the Theresa Kathryn Foundation, which supports "women and women-based initiatives around the globe." Tickets are $65 dollars, but you'll have to shell out $150 if you want to hang with the cast of The Apprentice beforehand (I don't think that includes Donald Trump, though). In a related auction, if you see me walking around the streets of Minneapolis today and give me a two quarters I'll buy you a Twinkie from the vending machine. That's just the kind of guy I am.

I don't know how many of you out there are fans of
Deal or No Deal, but TV Filter has an insightful interview with Thorpe Schoenle, who is apparently the show's biggest winner so far. Now, usually interviews with game show or reality TV contestants aren't that interesting, but it just so happens that Raoul, who conducted the e-mail exchange with Schoenle, is actually a close friend, so it's less like reading an interview and more like eavesdropping on someone telling their friend all about being on this cool new game show. As it turns out, Howie Mandel is actually a pretty cool guy. Of course, we
already knew that.

Closing arguments are scheduled for today in Richard Hatch's tax evasion trial. The IRS contends that Hatch owes back
taxes on his $1 million prize when he won the first edition of
Survivor in 2000. He's also accused of not
paying taxes on other income that year and of using money on himself that he had set aside for a charity.
Hatch's lawyer argued that
the producers of
Survivor made a deal with his client to pay taxes on his win when he caught the other castaways eating
unauthorized food. But, Hatch never actually testified to that claim while he was on the stand. As for the $25,000 he
was supposed to give to charity, Hatch had 3 explanations. First, he said that he put the checks in his own bank
account since his charity didn't have an account. He also blamed the credit union for actually writing the checks to
him, but a bank teller refutes Hatch's story. And he says the charity money he spent on renovations on his home was
legit since he runs his charity, a wilderness retreat for troubled kids, out of the home. Survivor executive producer
Mark Burnett testified that Hatch, just like every other
Survivor contestant, signed an agreement that he
would be responsible for the taxes on any winnings.
