I suppose if you want to be cynical, you could say that
Mayim Bialik is in the midst of a comeback, with several recent television roles, including guest stints on
Bones,
Secret Life of the American Teenager, and now,
Saving Grace. However, it's not as though the erstwhile star of
Blossom has spent the last fifteen years sitting around waiting for the phone to ring. After the series' end, she attended UCLA, got married, had two children, and even earned her PhD last year.
Ms. (er, Dr.) Bialik has indeed been busy, but she is now looking to make her way back into Hollywood. She's guest-starring on
Saving Grace tonight as Esther, a Hasidic Jewish mother of seven, whose own mother is found murdered in a field full of dead cows. I spoke with Mayim about
Saving Grace, the lasting legacy of
Blossom, and how she hopes people see her today.

Okay, so it's not a legit crossover, but it's more fun if you think of it that way.
Blossom star
Mayim Bialik is getting a makeover on the season premiere of TLC's
What Not To Wear (new episodes return May 29th). Post-sitcom-fame motherhood has left her a little frumpy and hiding behind shapeless hair, and her friends and family want her to do something about it. I'm sure whatever catty nonsense the hosts subject her to won't be as embarrassing as that time I was watching an episode and suddenly realized I was wearing the same thing as Clinton Kelly.

A day hasn't gone by where we haven't received some sort of tip or email asking us, the TV Squad, how to get on [insert reality show here]. Unfortunately no, Simon Cowell does not work for us, and Donald Trump isn't my BFF, so we really can't help all that much.
The folks at RealityWanted.com often send us a list of new and existing reality shows that are looking for new, er, talent, and they've given us permission to make mention of them here. We'll try to make this a regular feature as often as we get a new list.
This time we have Rock of Love, Family Court and a lot of new shows.

Victoria Beckham, a.k.a. Posh Spice, would have to go a long way to be compared to the foul-mouthed, in-your-face TV chef Gordon Ramsay, but that's what Fox TV is hoping for if they want her proposed new show,
Fashion Nightmares, to ape Ramsay's
Kitchen Nightmares. The net is talking with the former Spice Girl and fashion "scion" with her dvb Style denim brand to do a show in the style of
Kitchen Nightmares. In that US version of the BBC hit, the chef goes to troubled restaurants and diagnoses what's wrong and how they must fix it. Ramsay's way includes many expletives deleted and mucho histronics. Like the UK version, Fox's US variation has been a hit.

While waiting for
What Not To Wear on Friday night, I caught the premiere of TLC's
I've Got Nothing to Wear. It's the show in which three up-and-coming designers take various items from a -- let's just say it -- victim's wardrobe and cut and mix and match and sew everything into new garments. The concept sounded fantastic, especially to the artsy-fartsy types like me who love the DIY approach to fashion and enjoy cutting up old raincoats into evening wear or something.
So what's the problem?

I usually loathe the summer television season because everyday is like Sunday: there's nothing good on. Actually, I believe that's what Morrissey meant when he wrote "Everyday Is Like Sunday". Save for a few shows, my summer programming is erratic and I don't follow anything religiously. Sometimes I'm so bored by summer shows, I'll -- dare I say it -- turn off the television. Then I sit around and daydream about the new
Harry Potter book or something. Yes. Summer TV is that bad. However, there are a few things that I'm currently looking forward to -- and not all of them are re-runs.

One of the most liked characters on ABC's hit show
Ugly Betty is without a doubt Betty's nephew, Justin. This refreshing character loves musicals, could be a host of
What Not To Wear, and worships Martha Stewart. Even if he is a supporting character, the role of Justin always brings a breath of fresh air on the screen thanks to the actor portraying the
Ugly Betty's youngster: Mark Indelicato.
The 12-year-old actor may not have been featured in many TV series since he began acting four years ago but he sure knows how to portray his
Betty character.
