If your town wants to honor Glenn Beck with his own day, you better check the cushions in the couch for change and start taking up a collection.
The mayor of Mount Vernon, Wash. recently gave
Glenn Beck his own day, and the taxpayers will now have to fork over
more than $17,000, most of which was for police overtime.
Where are the teabaggers when you actually need them to protest unfair taxation without representation?

There's no doubt that among his peers, Tim Russert was one of the most respected broadcasters in the business. His sudden death from a heart attack in 2008 is still being felt, especially on
Meet the Press where David Gregory has assumed the role of moderator but not made the show his own.
As a way of honoring Tim, the Newseum in Washington will create a Tim Russert exhibit. The Newseum is a journalism museum, and the curators have come up with a unique way to pay tribute to Russert:
they will re-create Tim's NBC News office as it was on the day he died, June 13, 2008.

Not to be confused with
Cashmere Mafia or
Legally Blonde or
Sweet Charity, Lifetime has a new reality series in the works with the catchy title of
Blonde Charity Mafia. It's a docu-reality series, so they say.
Lifetime has ordered six half-hour episodes of Blonde Charity Mafia, following the lives of three young society women in Washington, D.C
. who are famous for their work on political and philanthropic fundraisers in the nation's capital. If this sounds something like the Bravo
Real Houswives franchise --
Real Housewives of Orange County, Real Housewives of New York and
Real Housewives of Atlanta -- it's all intentional.
The
Blonde Charity Mafia mavens may not be married ladies, but the very rich, society swirl sounds very much like the well-heeled women on Bravo.

When Jericho debuted on CBS earlier this fall, one of the big selling points was the plan to have a separate storyline on the network's web site. It would be actual scenes shot with the cast but shown online only, and they would beef up the subplots. This hasn't happened yet. There is a lot of online-only content at the site (including video about what would happen if a real attack happened, interviews, etc), but the additional storyline idea was canceled.

(S01E11) So Gracie the store owner is dead, stabbed by an unknown assailant, and you just know five minutes into the show that the person who is suspected of the crime, is not the guilty party. And when Mitchell comes back into town, injured, saying that Jonah "confessed" to the crime and then ran off, you know that Jonah didn't do it. But Gray and the townspeople form a posse to go get Jonah anyway. He's hiding at Emily's house, and Jake finds him there, bleeding to death.
Dale finds guilty about the way he quit the job at Gracie's store, but Gail has some shocking news for him: Gracie left the store to him in her will.

(S01E07) So, it's Halloween in Jericho. You would think that every person would be scared enough already with, you know, the world possibly coming to an end, especially after Gray makes it back into town with the news that Washington, D.C. is no more. But nope, there seems to be quite a celebration, with all the kids in costumes and plenty of candy to go around.
But Jonah is also coming to town, and he wants to get Mitch out of jail.

After months of delays the English language Al-Jazeera channel is finally ready to go. Plans call for the new network to broadcast around the clock with 12 hours a day devoted to live news while the other 12 go to interviews, features, and analysis. Like the current Al-Jazeera, the International version will also be headquartered in Doha, Qatar. There will also be newsrooms in London, Washington, and Kuala Lumpur.
The channel's chief competitors will be CNN International and BBC World. As would be expected, Al-Jazeera International will specialize in news from the Middle East and executives promise news with an Arab perspective. No deals have been announced to broadcast the channel in the US, but negotiations are ongoing. The goal for launch is to have the channel available in 30 to 40 million homes worldwide.

The last time we left
Vanished (well, actually, the last time you left it, since I didn't watch it), star Gale Harold had been killed off after the actor had been fired from the show (
according to USA Today). The show will return next week, in the network-is-going-to-cancel-it-anyway slot of Fridays at 9pm. The new star is Eddie Cibrian.
FOX asked the show's executive producer Josh Berman to wrap up the storyline in 13 episodes, the same thing that NBC asked the makers of
Kidnapped to do (that show has been shoved over to Saturday nights). There's no such like for fans of CBS'
Smith, which was simply canceled. (Actually, I thought
Vanished was simply canceled too, but I guess it has come back to life, if temporarily.)
I wonder when the networks will start toying with the idea of giving shorter seasons to a show and giving viewers the confidence of investing in a show, especially one with an ongoing, season long mystery?

Al-Jazeera International, with offices in Qatar, London, Washington, and Kuala Lumpur, was supposed to debut in the United States
back in May, but several issues caused the Middle East network to miss its target date, and no new date has been set. Four hours of the broadcast day would have been dedicated to news out of Washington with a focus on such things as environmental and human rights issues. Besides some apprehension over the network due to current US involvement in wars in two Islamic countries, Al-Jazeera International also faces the obstacle of not having any carriers in the United States willing to show it. Dish Network currently carries Al-Jazeera, but has not agreed to show Al-Jazeera International.
