Besides the panels that focused on various television programs, Comic-Con also had panels on the TV industry in general. One of these panels that I had time to cover was on genre television shows.
This wasn't a panel featuring writers and producers of obscure genre shows you have never heard of. The people on this panel had long careers in television and, in most cases, were actively writing or producing. These included Steve Melching, writer on the new Star Wars: The Clone Wars movie, Ashley Miller, writer on The Sarah Connor Chronicles, and Susan Watson, showrunner for Middleman. Also included on the panel were Harry Werskman and Gabrielle Stanton -- former showrunners for Moonlight.

With Battlestar ending, and Bionic Woman ended, the lovely and talented Ms. Sackhoff could use a new gig. Why not Nip/Tuck? Sackhoff is set to join the FX series for a four episode arc as Dr. Theodora "Teddy" Lowe. She's said to present a challenge for Sean (Dylan Walsh).
But wait, there's more. What's better than Katee Sackhoff on Nip/Tuck? How about some Morgan Fairchild? She will be appearing for one episode as a movie star. I suppose we could debate which is actually better, but for me, there is just something about Morgan Fairchild. Whichever you prefer, both are nice additions for the show. Read on past the jump for more casting notes from Caprica, Warehouse 13, and that crazy sounding House spin-off idea.

Early last month I posted a
casting call sheet for the upcoming Battlestar Galactica prequel show, Caprica. In that list was a call for Amanda Graystone, a "surgeon with a volatile streak to her" who is "something of a double agent." Well, you can scratch that one off the list of openings, as
Paula Malcomson (Trixie of
Deadwood and Jerri of
John From Cincinnati) has been cast in the role.
My interest in
Caprica hinges on how
Battlestar Galactica concludes; will I really want to know more about how it all began? I could see them putting us in a place that has us craving for more, though it's likely
Caprica is meant to stand on its own and without having to follow too many rules set by the
BSG events. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Sci FI Channel has
recently announced that they've ordered a new one-hour dramedy entitled
Warehouse 13, described as "part
The X-Files, part
Raiders of the Lost Ark and part
Moonlighting." Word is the show should hit cable/satellite waves next summer. Hm... cable/satellite. Cabelite? I mean, come on, do we really call cable/satellite-only shows as hitting the "air waves" anymore? Sorry, anyway...
Jane Espenson is one of the featured writers for the new show, which no doubt excites the hoards of other
Buffy fans out there like myself. And for
Farscape fans, Rockne S. O'Bannon is also writing for the series.
ComicMix has an
interesting comparison of the
Warehouse 13 idea and a "Warehouse 23" from an RPG companion book. If you ask me,
Warehouse 13 immediately reminded me of the 1980 movie
Hangar 18, though only when I initially incorrectly remembered it as Hangar 13. Oh well.
