Sports fans will get a sneak peek at what is essentially their own show on June 7 at 11pm ET. After that,
Versus network's new series Fanarchy will air 10:30pm ET Tuesdays. The show will be hosted by ESPN
Dream Job finalist and former
AOTS host Zach Selwyn and feature seven armchair quarterbacks each week bitching at one another about whatever topic Versus dreams up. Think of it like sports talk radio only now you can see the sweaty former jocks who think they can still fit into their high school football jerseys.
If Versus is looking for train wreck potential, then they've certainly struck gold here. I don't even think
Star Trek and
Star Wars fans are as fanatical as a hardcore sports fan. That said, it might be a nice change of pace to hear regular people talking about their take on the sports world as opposed to the rich suits that make up
SportsCenter and its ilk. We could hear a lot more "what the hell is he bitching about? He makes 24 million a year while I'm working at
Wendy's for eight bucks an hour and I had to go in with a broken ring finger!"

One of the long-time staples on cable has been
The Soup (formerly
Talk Soup) on E!. What started as a spoof of the various bizarre and goofy talk shows that permeated the airwaves throughout the '90s was reborn as a show that makes fun of all things television and pop culture now. Now the brand is seeking to expand to provide the same brand of satire and commentary to the sports world. Sister network
Versus will air Sports Soup twice a week beginning October 14th, 2008. Of course, as with Joel McHale on
The Soup the success of its new sister show will rest solely on the shoulders of its host, Matt Iseman.
In looking at
Iseman's Wiki entry, it looks like this show was originally branded
After Further Review. I guess they thought associating it with an already successful show with a similar format would improve its ratings. The network is still trying to establish itself as a viable sports brand in the ESPN world. Adding a show like this might be just the thing they need to drum up some buzz.

When Dennis Miller took over doing the color commentary on Monday Night Football several years back, fans of the show either loved him completely or hated him completely. You either really dug his arcane references and humor or you sighed a lot and wondered why he was in the booth (for the record, I don't really like football, so I didn't mind him in the booth at all). Now sports fans can relive those glory days!

Chris over at
Ad Jab found this
awesome online game created to promote the arrival of
American
Dad on DVD. The game is essentially set up like Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat or games of that nature, except it
pits characters from
American Dad against characters from
Family Guy. So, if you ever wanted to use
Stewie to kick the loving bejeezus out of Stan from
American Dad, this is your chance. There's an arcade
version and a two-player version, so you can waste time and do it with someone you love. That's how this thing called
the "Web" brings us together. I haven't gotten that far in the game, but according to Chris the "big
boss" you fight in the end is actually Ryu from Street Fighter. That's a very "
Family Guy" kind
of gag, I must say.

For those of you that didn't know, Barney, from
How I Met Your Mother,
actually
does have a blog.
The writers He writes to it pretty frequently, most of the time
twice a week, and whether they're show related or not, the posts are always quality. This past week, however, Barney
and I are having a little dispute. As you'll remember, I put a lot of research into my post last week about Barney's
"
Get Psyched Mix" from the show;
painstakingly copying all of the songs off of a blurry, handwritten cd from the episode, solely for your enjoyment.
Then, Barney has to go and post an entirely different list of songs on his blog! So, while both take you to legendary
heights of psyched-ness, we'd like you all to tell us which one you think is better.
Song lists and poll
after the jump...
