ABC will kick off its
upcoming fall season in earnest Sept. 21 with three nights of
Dancing With the Stars. The hit show – that continues to gain viewers no matter how much I wish it would die and stay dead -- will lead off the network's prime time schedule on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays before being reduced to two nights a week to make room for a pair new comedies.
There's still no word on exactly when
Lost will return, but the new mystery drama
Flash Forward will bow Sept. 24 at 8 p.m., right before the season premiere of
Grey's Anatomy.
The new seasons of
Ugly Betty and
Supernanny will debut in October with several new and renewed shows – like
Scrubs,
Brothers & Sisters,
Eastwick and
Private Practice – expected to show up on the network schedule later.

Ugly Betty has just wrapped up its latest season, and I feel like there are some matters that need to be addressed before they move forward. A lot of things about the last season
have confused me. Like, was Daniel's dangerously painful singing super-necessary? All the clumsy footwork around Justin's extra-gayness? What about Marc and Amanda's little make-out session? Okay, that last one was pretty great, I'll admit, but some things have happened this season that have really stripped the show of its original charm. Because I am a shallow person that often cattily judges people by their appearance to cover up my personal insecurities and self-loathing, the biggest problem I had with this season was with the clothes. I thought Betty was supposed to be the tackiest one on the show.

On last night's two-hour season finale of
Ugly Betty, Henry came back to New York to warn everyone that there's a killer going around killing all of the wedding guests one by one. Well, no, but Christopher Gorham came back to possibly screw things up between Betty and Matt.
Was this a good season finale? Is the show as good as it used to be? Does it deserve to get another season (though
it's moving to Friday nights next season, always a sign that it's on its way out)?

I used to really be into
Ugly Betty, and now ... not so much. There are just other things to watch, and that feeling of "oh,
Ugly Betty is a great show I wonder what's going to happen tonight!" is just gone. I think it ended around the time that she took that hansom cab ride with that one guy though she still wanted to be with Henry. Or something. Anyway, I'm looking at it and ... Ralph Macchio is in it now?! And David Rasche?! Discuss last night's episode here.

It's official. I'll finally be able to watch
Lost online for free without having to get up from the couch to click "Continue" after an ad plays on ABC.com.
Disney, owners of ABC and ABC Family, has become a
joint venture partner and equity owner of Hulu.
That means a slew of ABC shows will be popping up on Hulu soon. Here's the list of ABC/ABC Family shows Disney reportedly plans to make available for free streaming on Hulu (ranked by awesomeness):

It's that time of year again when network executives are having meetings after meetings to decide which shows we should be watching next season.
The CW announced the renewal of six of its shows about two months ago but besides that announcement, news of renewals have been rare when compared to news of cancellations.
Today, ABC sent out a press release confirming the twelve of its series would return for the 2009-2010 season. As you'll see after the jump, it was pretty much a given that those series would get another year either due to their ratings or the low cost of production compared to the money the show brings in with sponsors and ads.

When
Ugly Betty moved production to NYC, not everyone made the jump to the east coast. Most notably,
Christopher Gorham, who played Betty's geeky-hot boyfriend, Henry, left the show. However,
Michael Ausiello is reporting that Gorham, who has been seen recently on
Harper's Island, is reprising his
UB role this season.
As
Betty fans know, our titular heroine has moved on to her Yeti classmate Matt (Daniel Eric Gold). Since Betty can't seem to focus on one guy at a time, Henry of course has to come back to New York. What confuses me about this entire storyline is that it seems very... familiar.

If we all lived in the box -- you know, the TV box -- life would be a hell of a lot easier. Taxes would be paid with ease. Mortgages would be managed. And even the lowliest job would be more than enough to maintain a respectable lifestyle, one that looks quite comfortable in fact.
Despite the grim economic news we hear every day, the characters on television have been able to survive -- indeed, thrive -- in some of the crappiest jobs in the universe.
An editorial assistant at a fashion mag, like
Ugly Betty, finds a way to keep a Manhattan studio apartment, and commute home to Papi in Queens. Running a gym is a breeze for
Old Christine, because she doesn't really work. And even without an income,
Samantha Who? is never without her Jimmy Choos.
