What the Tuck? Carlson's show yanked

Tucker CarlsonArch, conservative, preppie guy Tucker Carlson has been ousted from his MSNBC show. Carlson's one-hour talk show, called Tucker, has been canceled. NBC News correspondent David Gregory will take over the hour slot, 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, which will be called Race for the White House. This week will be Carlson's last. Gregory starts on Monday, March 17.

MSNBC is reportedly making a series of changes, amping up the political chatter. Considering how much politicking is going on now, including Tucker, it's hard to fathom how switching Carlson for Gregory is going to increase the discourse.

Save Tucker Carlson!

savetucker.org logo

Devoted TV fans are famous for getting together to try and save their favorite show. Jericho fans sent tons of nuts to CBS, and Arrested Development fans created online petitions and web sites (as fans of other cancelled shows have done). Now fans of MSNBC's Tucker Carlson have set up the web site SaveTucker.org in order to get the cable news channel to change their mind about canceling his evening show. OK, they haven't actually come out and said that he's gone, but it doesn't look good. Carlson himself recently hinted at his show's low ratings on the air, which didn't please the execs at MSNBC.

I've never found Tucker Carlson to be that great of a host. Besides, isn't he too busy appearing on dancing celebrity shows and game shows? It will be interesting to see what the fans do to save his show. Maybe send bowties to MSNBC? Does he still wear bowties?

The best and the worst post-DWTS careers - VIDEO

Shandi Finnessey - DWTSOur pals over at AOL have a list up of those celebrities that have seen a boost to their careers after appearing on Dancing With The Stars. Head over there to see what John, Tatum, Stacy, and eight others are up to.

A gig on a show that counts itself as two of the top ten most watched programs every week certainly offers ample opportunities. But, like KISS said, there are two sides of the coin to choose from. So... after the jump, a look at those celebrities that have been somewhat less successful after their time in the ballroom.

Do You Trust Me? coming to CBS

CBS logoBack in April, Joel told you about the game show pilot that Tucker Carlson was filming for CBS. Back then it was titled Who Do You Trust?, which is the same name of the game show Johnny Carson had in the 1950s. I'm not sure why, but the title has been changed to Do You Trust Me? The network has ordered six episodes of the game show.

This isn't the only game show CBS has this fall. They also have Drew Carey's Power of 10.

Family Guy: Meet The Quagmires

the quagmires - family guy

(S05E18) And so ends a short, inconsistent, Family Guy season. I don't know if we should chalk it up to Seth MacFarlane being spread too thin with American Dad and The Winner to watch over, or just the show coming up on 100 episodes. Something just wasn't quite right at Family Guy HQ this season though.

Top ten F-bombs dropped on live TV - VIDEOS

Letter FThere are many swears that have started to make their way on to television, and I don't mean just HBO and Showtime. I've heard "shit" and "asshole" sprinkled here and there.

But there's still one word that's a no-no, and that's the famous four letter word that begins with the letter "F." It's banned on network television, and I think even on cable you can only get away with it so many times during one show. In the movies there are limits to the number of times it is used and the context (exclamation or verb?).

After the jump are the top ten videos of the word being used on live television. This Digg post lists the Richard Simmons clip as number one, but that's not accurate because they're outtakes, not live segments. Still funny though!

CBS signs Tucker Carlson to host game show pilot

Tucker CarlsonTucker Carlson, MSNBC pundit-show host and former bow-tie aficionado, has been selected to host a game show pilot for CBS. Called Who Do You Trust?, it involves a take on the "prisoner's dilemma," where strangers try to gauge how much they trust each other as the game proceeds, and make wagers based on what they think the other person is going to do.

There was a game show in the late fifties called Who Do You Trust?, which was hosted by Johnny Carson. From what I've seen, it seems like this version will be similar to the Carson version, but not the same. Though, in both versions, the hosts will be able to help the contestants judge each others' trustworthiness via interviews. Of course, Carlson's experience in trying to wrangle a pen of talking heads should serve him well here. As for Carlson... well, even if you disagree with his politics or think he's smug, you can agree that the guy's got personality. Heck, even Jon Stewart would admit that, albeit begrudgingly.

Are you ready for a Dancing With The Stars fitness book?

Dancing with the StarsHarperCollins, ABC, and BBC Worldwide are getting together to create a book you've all been waiting for: a fitness guide based on the hit show Dancing with the Stars.

According to the press release, the book "will reveal for the first time how some of the stars and dancers got into the best shape of their lives. Included will be healthy recipes and simple dance moves as well as never before seen pictures and quotes from the stars and their partners."

Yeah, because I've always wondered how Tucker Carlson stays in such great shape.

Dancing with the Stars: The Finale

Emmitt Smith, Mario Lopez(S03E20) The grand finale of season three really boiled down to one question. With the judges taking themselves out of the equation, or being taken out of the equation by the producers (for the tinfoil hat crowd), would the viewers vote based on the dancing or popularity? Emmitt Smith put on quite a show over the course of this season. I think most people were surprised by just how well he performed. But as good as Emmitt was, Mario was consistently better.

Are Tucker and Rita about to be canceled?

Tucker CarlsonFTVLive is reporting that there are rumors going around that two MSNBC personalities, Tucker Carlson and Rita Cosby, are being let go from the network. As we've told you earlier, NBC has laid off 700 people and MSNBC is going through a massive restructuring and Carlson and Cosby might be part of those changes (there are also reports that Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews will be going over to CNBC and MSNBC will go to an all documentary and taped feature format).

But wait! Carlson says it's not true, and so does MSNBC chief Dan Abrams.

Regardless of whether they're gone or not, I still think that making CNBC the news station for NBC is a good idea, if for one reason: they'll get out from under that "MS" in MSNBC and become their own news entity. There were rumors a year or so ago that NBC was going to end its association with Microsoft, but that hasn't happened yet. Maybe this could be the first step to rebranding. What does CNBC stand for anyway? Isn't it something like Cable NBC? If that's the case, the change makes sense.

Dancing with the Stars: Results Show

Dancing with the StarsS03E02 - As Tom says, "The ballroom can be so cruel." It's the results show, and somebody has to go. But not yet. First we have to wait. And then Tom and Samantha have to fill. Then a Tom Jones performance. Maybe two of those. Add in a little stalling. And finally we'll find out just what happened. My point, this should probably be a half hour results show.

Anyway... Emmit and Cheryl get things started with the encore performance of their Cha Cha Cha from the previous night. They're followed up by Tom Jones performing 'It's Not Unusual' while Louis Van Amstell and Karina Smirnoff dance. My guess is that Mario & Karina didn't get the encore because she was already scheduled for this performance. And the producers know they have plenty of weeks left to give them an encore.

Dancing with the Stars: Week 1 (season premiere)

Edyta Silwinska and Joey Lawerence(S02E01) It's hard to make a hit show, and it's hard to predict what show will be a hit. When I first heard the idea for Dancing with the Stars before the first season I thought, 'Why would anyone watch that?' Yet, here we are starting the third season and ABC has a bona fide hit on their hands. And I'm watching it. Go figure.

Tom Bergeron and Samantha Harris return as hosts. And if I can go off-topic for just a minute, I have to mention Breakfast Time. I've been a Bergeron fan since he hosted the best morning show that ever was. When Tom goes into the Hall of Fame he should be wearing his Breakfast Time cap. That said, they have eleven new stars ready to dance it up. Celebrity men danced the Cha Cha Cha while the women did the Fox Trot. Here are the couples and their results.
