The fine folks at TVShowsonDVD.com almost make me happy. Trey Parker and Matt Stone really hit it out of the park with their "Imaginationland" South Park trilogy, and the stellar ratings prove that everyone agrees on this point. In response, Comedy Central says they'll be collected in a special DVD set released March 11, 2008. That's like four months away! Okay, I can't blame TVShowsonDVD for that, but I like to kill the messenger ... the post office doesn't deliver mail to my house anymore.
I want to know why it's going to take so long. The boys can make an episode in 27 minutes, I can burn a DVD in two, and it takes about four days to ship goods by ground from the coasts to the Midwest, where I live. By my factoring, if they get started right now, I should have it Monday afternoon. I know the industry likes to release DVDs on Tuesdays, so I'll even give an extra day. I'll be in the stores next week looking for it. Don't make me come looking for the messenger.

(S11E12) In the final chapter of this exciting trilogy, Cartman goes out of his way to get Kyle to suck his balls. Oh, and the government is trying to nuke Imaginationland.
It's kind of ironic that Trey Parker and Matt Stone celebrate imagination so much yet loathe the institutions that produce it (specifically Hollywood). But that's a discussion for another time.

After securing all the Star Wars films on DVD, the first thing I did was to start with The Phantom Menace and watch all of the films in story order. Of course, I had to make due with Lucas' egregious digitally "improved" versions of the original trilogy. Sure, now you can get the original theatrical versions on DVD, but back then they weren't available. Why not just attach a vacuum hose to my wallet, George?
Sorry, I'm getting off the subject, which is that in November, Cinemax will be airing all six Star Wars movies both in release order and in story order. Now you can see how how Anakin turned from a young lad on Tatooine who wasn't a very good actor into the Dark Lord of the Sith with James Earl Jones' vocal cords. You'll also see Leia help smuggle both the Death Star plans and two cinnamon buns strapped to the side of her head, thwarting the Emperor's diabolical plan to win the Intergalactic Bake Off and Craft Fair. Cinemax on Demand will also be offering all six movies starting November 2nd, plus video extras, including a deleted scene in which a group of confused Ewoks take turns pooping into R2-D2.
