(S04E13) The latest season of
Doctor Who gets resolved with a story that seems rushed, confusing and filled with self-love on the part of showrunner Russell T. Davies. But that doesn't necessarily mean it was bad.
To begin, the CGI and special effects are quite possibly the best ever seen on the show. Despite being in charge of the specials that will be airing next year, it seems that this episode was treated as the last that Davies will ever run. As a result, he wrapped up most every storyline he could think of going back to the first season.

Even
more-so than Rich, I was indeed a Comic-Con newbie. I'd never been to a single one before this past weekend. The closest I've come is Linux World. You can stop laughing now.
Let me start out by stating the obvious, though those unfamiliar with Comic-Con may not know this: Comic-Con is an out-of-control monster. It doesn't quite know what it is, nor do the people attending it. To see everything, you'd need six or seven clones of yourself. The "comic" in Comic-Con must mean that it's comical, not that it's about comic books, because it's about much more than that these days. Television, Movies, Books, Toys, Games ... about the only entertainment medium that isn't represented is radio, and that I'm not even sure is true.

(S04E12) Russell T. Davies seems to include everyone and the kitchen sink in this episode. Appearing in the parent program are Captain Jack, Ianto and Gwen from
Torchwood and Sarah Jane and Luke Smith from
The Sarah Jane Adventures. Also making appearances are Martha Jones, Martha's mother Francine, Harriet Jones (former Prime Minister...yes, we know who you are), and British celebrities Richard Dawkins (real-life husband of former
Doctor Who companion Lalla Ward) and Paul O'Grady as themselves. Oh, and Rose is back.

There's so much on television for which to be thankful: the returning favorites, the new obsessions, the comedic, and the dramatic. Fresh faces work with old pros to bring us shows ranging from artistic masterpieces to guilty pleasures. On a basic level, I'm thankful that I had some difficulty choosing only five things on TV to praise. Specifically, the five things that I chose have given me hours of thought-provoking, laughter-inducing entertainment.
Another brilliant season of Ugly Betty: There's nothing worse than watching your favorite new show lose its touch in the second season. Like all Ugly Betty fans, I'm thankful that the sweetest comedy on television has avoided the sophomore slump. The best elements from the first season--clever one-liners, heartwarming moments, and top-notch performances from the ensemble cast--have remained intact.
