What You Missed Last Night: Top ten Northwest pilot excuses

We've all heard about the Northwest Airlines pilots that flew their plane full of passengers 150 miles past their destination. First they said they were arguing and not sleeping, then yesterday it came out that they were on their laptops. Probably on Facebook.

Last night, David Letterman had a list of the top ten excuses the pilots made.

What You Missed Last Night: Signs your toddler watches too much TV

Let's face it, the Top Ten list on The Late Show with David Letterman can be hit or miss some nights (and just miss other nights). But they can still make lists where every entry is pretty damn funny. That happened last night, as Letterman presented the "Top Ten Signs Your Toddler Watches Too Much Television." Hey, it's TV-related so it's a perfect list for us.

Optimus Prime loves Sex and the City

David Letterman doesn't usually have monotone robots on his show, except for the nights that he has a politician on, but last night Optimus Prime showed up to give the Top Ten list, "Top Ten Things That Sound Cool When Spoken By A Giant Robot." My favorite is number seven, because it's just so bizarre. I don't quite understand number one.

Top ten things overheard at the "Fire David Letterman" rally

So there was still a "Fire David Letterman" rally last night outside the Ed Sullivan Theater. There were between 50 and 100 people there, some supporting Dave and some...well, not supporting him. Gawker and The Village Voice were there and documented what went down.

Dave didn't duck the protesters either. Here's his Top Ten list from last night. (And after the jump, a bonus: Lyle the intern!).

Top ten lines never before said in a Star Trek film

This is becoming Leonard Nimoy Squad after yesterday's post from The Today Show, but here's another one, in honor of the new Star Trek film opening today. It's Nimoy on The Late Show with David Letterman giving the "Top Ten Lines Never Before Said In A Star Trek Film."

Extended (dirty) scene from How I Met Your Mother - VIDEO

barney; neil patrick harris; how i met your motherEven if you don't watch How I Met Your Mother, you'll probably get a kick out of this. At the end of Monday's episode, Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) does a damn fine impression of David Letterman reading his Top 10 List. The list is names of a moving truck that, earlier in the episode, Barney tricked out to be his own love den so he didn't have to travel all the way back to his apartment with girls. He could just take them to the moving truck in the alley. And it actually worked on at least one girl.

This extended scene (after the jump) has Barney's original list that made air on Monday, but then Neil Patrick Harris pulls out another list that the cast obviously wasn't expecting. It's pretty dirty, so there's your warning! And when you're done with that, check out the "Slap Bet" montage. God, I love this show.

Don't forget! Letterman's 25th anniversary is tonight

David LettermanI'm reminding readers for two reasons. One, it's an important milestone for David Letterman. His guests tonight will be Bill Murray (who was on his very first NBC and CBS shows) and basketball player LeBron James. And two, The Late Show With David Letterman has been in repeats this week (and the end of last week), so some people might assume that tonight and tomorrow are repeat episodes too. But they're brand-spanking new.

The NY Daily News lists their Top 10 David Letterman moments, and they include Madonna's expletive-filled appearance, Sonny and Cher getting back together, and Oprah finally coming on the show. And if you're feeling nostalgic for his old NBC show, YouTube has some clips.

The show airs tonight on CBS at 11:35.
