When you make a living online and a big part of your job is to spend the entire day surfing around a hundred web sites, you begin to think that you've seen everything there is to see on the web. At least the good stuff. But sometimes you come across a site that makes you smile and say to yourself, "this is great!"
That's what I thought when I found the Sound of Young America podcast.

UPDATE: The new season begins November 18. Also, the first season will be released on DVD this spring.
Back in April, I told you thirty new episodes of Adult Swim's Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! had been ordered, and fans rejoiced. Now comes news from the boys themselves that the new season will kick off this November. They don't mention a specific date, but who cares, at least it's coming back.
I was a fan of Tim and Eric's work pre-Adult Swim, and loved Tom Goes to the Mayor, their first series for the network. Awesome Show, like Tom, samples from the same font of weirdness, but is also, like Tom, often much smarter than it seems. It is comedy dissected, turned inside out and gussied up in an oddball manner that makes some people fall in love with it and others hate it with a dark, unholy passion.

Every so often, MySpace will offer users the chance to gussy up their pages with special promotional images and backgrounds. Some, like myself, prefer doing it the old fashioned way and carrying large signs around the neighborhood telling everyone to see the new Transformers movie.
Comedians Tim and Eric (Tom Goes to the Mayor; Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!), however, don't care about Transformers, they care about Shrek the Third. That's right, not only have they changed the look of their MySpace page to honor the lovable ogre, they've also created a few videos to let people know the movie is coming out.

Tom Goes to the Mayor began as a couple short short films on creators Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim's Web site, and even then it was obvious that not everyone was going to be into it. If anything, the fact that so many people either absolutely loved the series or just found it confusing and unfunny is a testament to its success: one doesn't make a show like Tom Goes to the Mayor with the intention of pleasing everyone. You either grok it, or you don't.

Eric Wareheim of Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! has posted a ton of pictures and video from the "Tim and Eric Awesome Tour," or, as I refer to it, the "Tim and Eric Suck Because They Made Zero Stops in the Midwest Tour."
The live audience member-filmed videos are the only way you'll have of seeing these shows, as a proposed live webcast was canceled due to legal reasons. There are, however, a lot of vids from the tour popping up on YouTube, and you can always go to Tim and Eric's Web site and see early versions of some of the skits they performed.
I've placed a video from the tour after the jump. If you're a fan of Tim and Eric, I'd like to say "you're welcome." If you're not the kind of person who gets into the kind of surreal, deadpan comedy these fellas do so well, I'd like to apologize in advance for what's no doubt going to be a very confusing three minutes and forty-one seconds.

In case you missed it the other three billion times I mentioned it, I'm a big fan of Tim and Eric. I thought their series Tom Goes to the Mayor was one of the funniest shows of the last couple years, and I'm growing more and more fond of Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!, their disjointed and smarter-than-it-seems sketch show.
If you also like Awesome Show but wish you could pay money to watch it, it's now available on iTunes.
In addition, Tim and Eric are heading out on tour with exactly zero stops in the Midwest, the big dumb jerks. Sorry, I'm just a little bitter. While on tour, they'll be filming a documentary of the whole experience, so keep an eye on AdultSwim.com for clips from the road, as well as a full webcast of their appearance in Atlanta on March 1.
Here's a tiny taste of what to expect.

The new sketch comedy series, Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job!, from Tom Goes to the Mayor creators Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim kicks off February 11 at 11:45pm on Adult Swim. There are a bunch of promos for the series on YouTube, none of which really explain what the show is about, but if it the series is anything like Tim and Eric's previous work, it probably defies explanation anyway. Or, it's a brand new approach to comedy that is actually much smarter than it seems. Either way, I'll be checking it out.
Oh yeah, and if you want to experience the boys live, they're hitting the road later this month for the Tim and Eric Awesome Tour, with absolutely no stops in the Midwest, the rat bastards. Tour stops and ticket information are after the jump. If you get a chance to meet either Tim or Eric on this tour, tell them Adam sends his love from Minneapolis and then kick them in the shins for me. Thanks.

Someone left a comment on my latest Moral Orel review asking whatever happened to Boondocks. Oddly enough, Boondocks will return with a new season in March, along with the second half of the current season of Moral Orel.
Before all of that, however, there are two new series debuting in February: Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job!, a fifteen-minute sketch show from Tom Goes to the Mayor creators Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim will kick off on February 11 at 11:45pm, followed by the Sid and Marty Krofft-inspired Saul of the Molemen at midnight. Also look for fifth season episodes of Family Guy to debut the same night. In addition, new episodes of anime series Trinity Blood, Eureka 7 and Bleach will continue throughout February along with repeats of 12 Oz Mouse, Harvey Birdman, Minoriteam, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Squidbillies and Home Movies. Adult Swim HQ also writes that a new anime series will replace Trinity Blood in March.
Finally, it looks as if a third season of the Venture Bros will debut sometime later this year. Wikipedia says as much, and on January 4 co-creator Jackson Publick wrote on his LiveJournal that they had just begun to write episodes for the next season. So it's happening, but you'll have to be patient. I suggest watching the first and second DVDs over and over again.

Yesterday I mentioned that Comedy Central's Motherload site was gearing up for more new Web-only programming, and now I actually have a full list of all the show's slated for the site.
The one that caught my eye was "Stephen and Steven," an animated series from Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim of Tom Goes to the Mayor and the upcoming Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!. The series will focus on Siamese twins who are attached at the groin and love online dating. Yeah, that pretty much sounds like Tim and Eric.

Adult Swim recently posted another preview of sorts of Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!, the new sketch comedy show from Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim, creators and stars of Tom Goes to the Mayor. The new series debuts February 11, and I gotta say, that day can't get here fast enough. As I've said here about fifty zillion times, I'm a big Tim and Eric fan. I wish I could call the calendar people and tell them to make the days go faster. I wish the calendar people wouldn't tell me to stop calling and making stupid requests. If you were to call me on the phone I would yak your ear off for hours about how much I love Tim and Eric's dry, surreal brand of comedy. Did I say dry cereal brand of comedy? No, I said dry surreal. If you read it aloud, it does kind of sound like "dry cereal," though. In conclusion, watch the clip.

First of all, enjoy this nice little Christmas video from comedians Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim. It's from their upcoming sketch show, and it's kind of confusing. Not to worry, I'm sure when seen in context it's even more perplexing.
Oh yeah, and the complete series of Tom Goes to the Mayor will be out on DVD in April 0f 2007. Since they're calling it the "Complete Series" I'm going to put two and two together and assume the show is over for good. I am equal parts bummed and thrilled by these two bits of news, though I think two seasons is a pretty good run for a show like TGTTM. Rather than follow the trajectory of so many others before it and use pop culture as a springboard, Tim and Eric satirized small town life and overzealous civic pride in an absurdist style that crawled right into my brain, laid out a sleeping bag and whispered softly to me: "Adam, I'm forever stuck in your head now. Get used to me."
All sadness aside, we still have Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! to look forward to, so no reason to commit suicide yet, Tim and Eric fans.
