Season four of
Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job! has been over for months, and "Season Cinco," as season five has been dubbed on
the pair's Web site, has not yet started. But fans can bide their time with the
Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job! S3ASON THR33, which was out earlier this month.
In season three, Tim and Eric took a step up. The shows got funnier and tighter, without losing any of the scattershot, what-the-hell-am-I-looking-at feel. They upped the ante on creepy and uncomfortable with the "Child Showcase" sketch, featuring Patton Oswalt and Rainn Wilson as children singing inappropriate songs while an approving host looks on. It's an immediately unsettling image (though nothing really tops Chippy for that so far), a seamless special effect that puts Oswalt's and Wilson's heads on a kid's body.

Here are the new TV DVDs, in stores tomorrow.Wow, I didn't even realize that season six of
Kate and Allie was being released this week (Canada only). Reminds me that I haven't bought season five yet. I think I was waiting for it to be released in the U.S., but now Amazon doesn't have any copies, so I'll guess I'll get them both this week at the same time.
Not sure what's up with the Elvis
Ed Sullivan Show DVD. There was a very similar DVD set released a few years ago, so maybe this is a re-release or a re-master?
- The Adventures of Black Beauty - Series 2
- Daffy Duck's Quackbusters
- The Ed Sullivan Show - Elvis Presley

I had hoped to post the
Tim and Eric interview from
Late Night with Jimmy Fallon from last night, but
this is all NBC posted of the segment. Fallon introduced them by saying they had been eating chocolate since Sunday and hadn't slept, at which point they burst into the studio and threw candy at the audience and the band. They made a passing attempt at answering Fallon's questions, and gave a bit of their history, but mostly stuck to the premise of being hopped up on candy. No one sticks to a premise like Tim and Eric.
If you're not familiar with Tim and Eric, you probably look at these two guys in pink chocolate-stained tuxedos and wonder what the hell you're watching. Sometimes, even when you do know Tim and Eric, and watch
Tim & Eric, Awesome Show, Great Job every Sunday at 12:30 AM on
Adult Swim, you are apt to say, what the hell am I watching.

It goes without saying that television from the 80's - as a decade - tends to stand on its own as having provided some of the oddest junk we may ever see: the glorification of cat-fights (see:
Dynasty), the existence of
Twin Peaks, and an alien as the star of his own sitcom (see:
Tony Danza Alf).
Of course, classically cheesy schmaltz like
Dancing With The Stars and
American Idol continues to thrive, keeping viewers fastened to their couches amid every note sung or dance move executed by someone in a fedora or boa, respectively.

Here are the new TV DVDs, in stores tomorrow. One of these days I'm going to get these
Route 66 sets. Since I haven't bought any so far and this is a Producer's Picks set, it might be a good place to start. Don't remember the
Fat Albert Easter special. Maybe that's the one where he ate a lot of candy and got fat?
And if you haven't gotten the older season one set of
House yet, you should buy this one because it's "Anamorphic." Which I think means it was filmed underwater.
- A Haunting - Demon Angels and House of Fear
- Alvin & The Chipmunks - Mystery of the Easter Chipmunk
- Dragon Ball Z - Season 8
- Fat Albert & The Cosby Kids - Easter Special
- Friday The 13th - Season 2
- House - Season 1 (Anamorphic Edition)
- The Inauguration of Barack Obama on CNN
- Kennedy - The Complete Miniseries
- Life with Derek - Let The Games Begin
