Yes, there will be a Simpsons movie ride

simpsonsLast month, I mentioned that some rumors were floating around about a possible Simpsons movie ride at Universal Studios. According to a recent interview with Simpsons writer Matt Warburton over at TV.com, it's true. Warburton was rather coy about what the ride would consist of, but he says he is writing for it and that it will be "cool."

Earlier rumors claimed the new ride, allegedly titled "Travel with Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie" would be a motion-simulation ride in which a "car" twists and moves along with an animated film to give the feeling of actual movement. One assumes that's probably going to be the case since I can't imagine how someone would "write" for any other kind of ride.

ABC actors part of new Disney advertising campaign

kim yun-jin; james denton; isaiah washingtonThree actors on ABC's most popular shows will be featured in a new Disney ad campaign for the company's theme parks. Kim Yun-jin from Lost, James Denton from Desperate Housewives, and Isaiah Washington from Grey's Anatomy will give testimonials about their hopes and dreams. Country singer Sara Evans, currently a contestant on Dancing with the Stars, will also appear.

The theme of the new campaign is "Where Dreams Come True" and the ads will be shot in a wistful, documentary style. The message, other than telling people to visit Disneyland, is about accomplishing dreams. The target audience is children and young adults. The first advertisement in the new campaign ran Wednesday on ABC.

Wayans want to build movie studio and theme park

wayans brothersWayans brothers Keenen Ivory, Damon, Shawn and Marlon are negotiating with city officials in Oakland, California to build a movie studio and theme park where an Army base once stood. The council gave the brothers exclusive rights to the site. They've already put down a $150,000 security deposit. Since the deal is still being hammered out, there's not much info on what the heck they plan to do with the land, though they're apparently considering building a luxury hotel and some high-end stores in addition to the movie studio and theme park. Hmm, sounds rather swanky.

Hanna-Barbera fliers from 1972

Since I loves me some old timey cartoons I thought these old opening day fliers for Kings Island in Cincinnati were pretty awesome. Yeah, they're just pamphlets, but they feature the Hanna-Barbera characters who apparently roamed the park when they weren't on television. The fliers are from 1972. Nowadays it's the characters of Nickelodeon who represent the park. I suppose that works, too.I don't tend to keep close tabs on amusement parks, but until now I was unaware that Hanna-Barbera was ever associated with a theme park. I guess one can learn new things everyday, sometimes decades after the fact.
