Sesame Street DVDHere are the new TV DVDs, in stores tomorrow.

I'm always amazed at how many seasons JAG lasted. It started on NBC in 1995 then went to CBS, and I really thought it was the type of show that wouldn't last beyond three seasons, but it lasted ten! I thought the same thing about NCIS, and look at what happened there too. Obviously I don't do well predicting how shows with all caps in their titles will do.

  • Batman: The Brave and the Bold - Vol. 2
  • Dawson's Creek - Complete Series
  • Discovery Collection - Complete Collection
  • G.I. Joe - A Real American Hero Collector's Set
  • Heartland - Season 1, Part 2

LifeHere are the new TV DVDs, in stores tomorrow.

Well. This week has a little bit of everything, no matter what the TV fan is looking for. We have current shows (NCIS, House, Scrubs), recent shows that have been canceled (Life, Samantha Who?), classic shows you probably thought you'd never seen on DVD (Wiseguy, Wanted: Dead or Alive), kid shows (Suite Life on Deck, Sonny with a Chance), cartoons (Batman, Dungeons & Dragons), and quirky reality and/or documentary shows (Dog The Bounty Hunter, MonsterQuest, The Universe).

There's also two DVD sets called TV Sets, which are a mix of various episodes of sci-fi shows (Star Trek, The 4400, Medium) and crime shows (Streets of San Francisco, Dexter, CSI: NY).

Golden Age of ComedyHere are the new TV DVDs, in stores tomorrow.

Hmmm, a bunch of "Best Of" sets are being released this week. I've never liked this idea (most of these sets don't have episodes that I'd like to see, and I'd like a complete collection), though I guess I can understand why they release them. They want to see if fans are interested and aren't sure if it warrants a whole season being released. Though I'm not sure why shows like Banacek and B.L. Stryker are getting "Best Of" sets since they have already had season sets released.

  • B.L. Stryker - Best Of
  • Banacek - Best Of
  • Beany & Cecil - Classic Collection, Volumes 1 and 2

Director Stuart Rosenberg dead at 79

Twilight Zone logoStuart Rosenberg is probably best known for directing big screen movies such as Cool Hand Luke, The Amityville Horror, Brubaker, The Pope of Greenwich Village, The Drowning Pool, and Voyage of the Damned, but he had an impressive TV resume as well.

Rosenberg directed several episodes of the original Twilight Zone, as well as episodes of The Untouchables, Ben Casey, The Defenders, Rawhide, For The People, Naked City, Bob Hope Presents The Chrysler Theater, The Nurses, and Alfred Hitchcock Presents. He also directed the TV movie Fame is the Name of the Game, which led to the TV series The Name of the Game.

Rosenberg died last week at his home in Beverly Hills of a heart attack.
