AOL picks the best TV shows of the 60s

The Twilight ZoneIt's time for another TV list! Everybody loves lists, right? This one has AOL picking the best TV shows of the 1960s.

As usual, it's a list that will get the debate going. Shows that without a doubt deserve to be on the list: The Twilight Zone, The Dick Van Dyke Show, Star Trek, The Andy Griffith Show, I Spy, and Bewitched.

Shows that without a doubt don't belong on the list: The Flying Nun, Hogan's Heroes, and The Mod Squad. Sure, I enjoyed those shows when I was younger, but I really don't think they belong in the "best" category (I'll let you debate another show on the list, Batman - great or just "campy" great?)

TV 101: Do we have more TV channels than we do TV talent?

Geico CavemenIn the 90s, one of the most popular (and annoying) memes that circulated through the geekier magazines was that we were only a few years away from having "500 channels" on our cable systems. Unlike most tech predictions, this one actually came true. Sure, it took 1200% longer than they thought it would, but that's still pretty good considering most of the stuff Wired talked about in the 90s was made up by the editorial staff after downing a couple of those schizophrenia-inducing Transformers 2 pot brownies.

Here's the question I've come back with: what if there isn't enough talent for humanity to adequately fill 500 channels?

Pushing Daisies: Bzzzzzzz! (season premiere)

Pushing Bees(S02E01) What's the buzz? The buzz is bees and bees were the main topic on tonight's season opener. Frankly, I really don't like bees, so I found the sight of the dead body -- Kentucky Fitz -- covered in pus-filled bee bites rather repulsive. However, you got to hand it to Pushing Daisies for production values.

Everything about the show remains top-notch. The look, the feel, the essence remains as precious as the Emmy-award winning pie-lette (for direction). In fact, that's the only problem with PD; it is precious. For some people that's too much. For me, this is TV that's just too good to care about the delicate balance between surreality and satire, fable and a far-out acid trip.
