While a lot of shows seem to be thriving in cable, in the last couple of days, two series have bitten the dust.
TBS dumped The Bill Engvall Show after three seasons, and now
A&E Network has canceled The Cleaner, opting not to give the drama series another year. Hmm... does that mean Benjamin Bratt is available to return to
Law and Order?
Probably not. Been there, done that, you know. But the TV pro is now unemployed although I doubt that'll be for long.
The Cleaner just never really clicked for A&E. It was as intense as the network's hit reality show, Intervention, but it wasn't nearly as compelling.

The Cleaner? It seems to be the cable drama that has gotten lost in the mix of other shows that get more press and acclaim, like
Mad Men,
Breaking Bad,
Weeds, and
Rescue Me. But one friend of mine swears that the show is one of the best shows on television right now.
TV shows and movies about drug addicts always bum me out though.

Here are the new TV DVDs, in stores tomorrow.I sometimes enjoy watching
Judge Judy, but it's one of those shows that I can't possibly imagine owning the DVDs. Once is enough for me. But if you're really into the show, there's a 2-Pack set being released this week.
But I have to get the
Get Smart DVDs at some point. That's the only show being released that I have any interest in.

Nielsen has posted an interesting article on their blog in which they rate
the television viewers' political leanings with regards to the programs they watch. Based on their study, the show which best engages the Democratic viewer is
The Colbert Report. The show which best engages the Republican viewer is
South Park. The show which best engages bi-partisans is
The Cleaner.
I don't know about anybody else, but I find this list to be amusing. I can understand why
The Colbert Report and
South Park (particularly with its counterculture theme) engages their respective politics, but
Doctor Who?
Cash Cab? I'm a fan of all of the above (I've even been a contestant on
Cash Cab) and my politics lean left. Have I been watching the wrong shows?
I'd like to think that while certain shows attract a certain political demographic, it doesn't mean that the content leans one way or the other or that it is intended for that demographic. Okay, maybe
The Colbert Report, but that's it.
