This wasn't a particularly strong episode. Maybe I only feel this way because I was in a bad mood while watching the episode. I don't know. At least I laughed at the Popemobile within a Popemobile and the family of
Vilsack ducks. Oh, speaking of Vilsack... I must praise the
TDS writers for not going for a ballsack joke. It would have been easy. Too easy.
"
Summit of All Fears": Bush met up wit Maliki again.
So awkward.

Saturday Night Live will have three new episodes, back-to-back, before breaking for the Christmas holiday. Here's the schedule of hosts and musical guests:
- Matthew Fox & Tenacious D, December 2
- Annette Bening & Gwen Stefani, December 9
- Justin Timberlake, December 16
I may actually watch the Matthew Fox episode just because I'm curious to see how they make fun of
Lost. Let's hope it's not a Q&A monologue with rabid
Lost fans. That's too easy. Plus, Tenacious D is always a hoot. Hopefully we'll see Jack Black in a few sketches (He would make a great Hurley!) The Justin Timberlake episode also intrigues me just because he seems to be up for anything the
SNL writers throw at him. I expect we'll see the
SNL holiday special on the following Saturday, December 23rd.

I'm guessing that we'll see
the
School of Rock version of Jack Black, rather than the Tenacious D version when he hosts Nickelodeon's 19th
annual
Kids' Choice Awards on April 1. I'm pretty sure
F*** Her Gently isn't considered
family-friendly. Black says of the honor, "I have a lot of secret plans for when I host the awards, but I can tell
you I'm going to bring the super-duper, freaky-deaky, ultra-clowny super dance!" That man is going to drive those
kids wild.
Voting begins on March 6 at Nickelodeon's
website. A few
nominees in the television category are after the jump, or you can check out the full list (including movies)
here.
Let's just say it ain't the Oscars. And that's OK.

Well this was a pleasant surprise. After the past few mediocre episodes (save for the handful of great
sketches in last week's Baldwin explosion), I wasn't
expecting much from this. Sure, Jack Black is great and all, but lately I've just come to expect to be disappointed from
SNL. Fortunately, the writers put together a nice set of laughs (and a couple extra guests) which is
a good thing since this is the last episode we're getting until Scarlett Johansson hosts on January
14th.
