Man, I've finally sorted through all of my confusion (how embarrassing ... ) about how Lily and Marshall on
How I Met Your Mother actually aren't pregnant at all; rather,
actress Alyson Hannigan is expecting in real life with her husband, Alexis Denisof of
Buffy and
Angel fame.
And now, this news comes across my screen? How am I to believe that the writers of
How I Met Your Mother actually thought it was a good idea for Lily and Robin to be pregnant at the same time? Nevertheless, it's true, because
People Magazine is reporting that Robin is pregnant.
So what's the deal? Is it Barney's baby? Now there's a real twist, and it was all foreshadowed in "
Not a Father's Day" with Robin and Barney being so sweet on the sock.... What's that, you say? Robin isn't pregnant? You say
Cobie Smulders, the actress who plays Robin, is expecting? I'm sure I can figure this out ...

Hear that sound -- a nearly inaudible rumbling coming over the horizon? Everyday it is getting louder and louder. Soon, the stampede that is the return of scripted series back from the depths of the WGA strike will overrun our televisions and computer screens, bringing overwhelming joy to our lives.
Okay, that statement may be a little flowery, but the sentiment is still there. After a very long dry period a good many of our favorite comedies and dramas are returning to the television landscape. We've had a taste of it these last few weeks with the return of shows like The Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, Dirt, The Riches and Smallville. That was just a preview of what is to come. Over the next few weeks we will see the return of The Office, Scrubs, Ugly Betty, all of the CSIs, Battlestar Galactica, and Lost, among others.

October Road, a new drama about a famous novelist who returns to his hometown to teach at a university and confront the people he left behind, didn't make the ABC lineup for May, but the network has decided to order six episodes of the series that will air this spring or this summer. The idea of a famous person returning to the place he grew up isn't exactly a new idea, but I'll withhold judgment until I see it. Besides, a lot of shows have turned out something unique while using premises that have been done before. The show will star Bryan Greenberg as the famous writer, along with Tom Berenger, Laura Prepon and Geoff Stults. The show is being produced by
Alias producers Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemic.
