Spoilers are a hot topic here on
TV Squad. Nary a day goes by when we don't hear something -- good or bad -- from readers about spoilers. And it's been going on a while; Isabelle wrote
this post on spoilers back in 2007.
What is a spoiler? Should they be included in titles? Should we always put them after the jump? Are casting announcements spoilers? What about short posts that only fit on the front page? What if the info is common knowledge?
Let's take a closer look at spoilers, what they are, and how we can run a great web site and all live together with these precarious bits of info known as spoilers.

Some
True Blood spoilers
have surfaced online in the form of a casting list for next season. Not having read the books, I cannot comment as to whether or not season three of the show is loyally following the third Sookie Stackhouse mystery novel "Club Dead". Historically, the show has remained true to the spirit but has gone in its own directions.
I talked with someone who
has read the novels, and it turns out that some of the characters in the casting list don't appear in the books. This includes Sam Merlotte's lost-long brother.
It does give something of a hint as to how next season is going to progress. We know Bill Compton was kidnapped (and since the character is still in the cast list for next season, it's unlikely to have been anything else) and we know that at least three female characters are trying to seduce Jason Stackhouse. Tara is going to start hanging out with some vampires herself and probably still be at odds with her mother (who is befriended by a Reverend Daniels).
Next season is starting to look good; I'm looking forward to it. How about you folks?

If you want to discuss last night's episode of
Big Brother 11, head on over to the
TV Squad review of the show. But if you want to know who won the first part of the final head of household comp, stay right here. Perhaps if we had Jeff and Russell in the competition, they'd still be up on the log.
But think about it. We have players not as um ... enduring (or at least one is certainly not as endearing) left in the game at this point. I mean, how long can they hang in there? A half-hour? Maybe an hour? Well, I'll tell you they were up there for much longer than I thought. If you want to find out more, read on past the jump. Extreme spoilers ahead!

Once again, the
Big Brother 11 show ended with their version of a cliffhanger -- a head of household competition started, but not completed on the live show. Yet again, they think show fans should wait until Sunday evening to see which worthy (or not) hamster won the competition.
But I say ... why wait? It isn't like they're still going to be stumbling and sliding yet on Sunday night. It's over as I write this up for you. You could know the winner, figure out the best game plays, and strategize with the best of them. Oh wait. I forgot. We don't have the "best of them" on the show this season. Read on for extreme spoilers for Sunday night's show.

Shh ... don't tell anyone, but I have some
Big Brother 11 spoilers for you. Are we alone? You see, CBS would rather the results of the head of household competition remain a secret until they get around to airing it on Sunday night.
But you know it's all over. Heck, they only had an hour time limit -- long enough so they couldn't do it in its entirety on the Thursday live show. But it's all over now. It only looked like it could last an eternity. Admit it. You like to peek ahead to the end of a novel, and you really want to know who's the latest head of household. Read on for extreme spoilers!

Admit it. You don't want to wait until Sunday night ... or maybe even Tuesday night to hear about the big drama going on in the
Big Brother 11 house. Sure, the real happenings in the house are usually a few days ahead of the actual airing of the shows.
Yes, the nominations have already happened. But that's not even the major news of the day. I'm talking huge. I'm talking
BB history annals big. I'm talking drama, I'm talking excitement. But, unless you want to know major spoilers, be warned that show-changing news is beyond the jump.

You know you want to know. When last night's
Big Brother 11 show ended, all of the houseguests were on a giant carousel getting whapped with a foam rubber diploma and getting rained upon. The television show won't show the winner until Sunday night.
Does that mean that they'll be swinging about until Sunday night? Nope! It's always over within hours and it's well over as I write this up for you. If you're the kind of person who enjoys a sneak peak at the end of the novel you're reading ... you need to read beyond the jump. If you don't like extreme spoilers, stay right on the main page of TV Squad.

I really don't want to go back to high school cliques, do you? I suppose if you were in with the in crowd, your memories are all fluffy puppies and smiles. For many folks, high school cliques meant teen angst. And, no one has as much angst as a teenager!
When
Big Brother 11 executive producer Allison Grodner promised this season would have a twist with which everyone can relate, I figured she'd go for the sexual conquest route once again. After all, she seems a bit fixated on "hot" eye-candy and hamster hook-ups. But this seems totally different.
The house is being split into four cliques: populars, athletes, brainiacs, and off-beats, oh my. Who will be in which group? What are the rumors about the 13th mystery houseguest? Read on ... beware, there may be spoilers ahead.

Why do we, as viewers, like to be
spoiled? It was never like this in the 60s or the 70s or the 80s or even most of the 90s. We never found out who shot JR before
Dallas aired or what was going to happen on the next
Seinfeld. THR.com sat down with the showrunners of several popular shows, including Matthew Weiner (
Mad Men), Shonda Rhimes (
Grey's Anatomy), Greg Daniels (
The Office), Katie Jacobs (
House), Alan Ball (
True Blood), and Jenji Kohan (
Weeds), and they talked about this and many other things. (

I'm eagerly anticipating Zachary Quinto's return to
Heroes as Sylar after watching
Star Trek. Now, producer Tim Kring is getting my hopes up for the show's fourth season, which he says will explore some classic and intriguing superhero themes.
Kring recently revealed some details about the show's upcoming plots and themes in his latest "
Heroes All Access" newsletter. We have the scoop on what Claire, Peter, Nathan/Sylar and HRG will be up to when the show returns to NBC in the fall.

J.J. Abrams is the guest editor of
the latest issue of Wired, and it's not only filled with info about the new
Star Trek film and
Lost and
Fringe, it has a bunch of puzzles scattered throughout that might actually give some clues to
Lost. Inside there are many oddities and games: missing text on page 46, and Hurley's lottery ticket numbers (and other numbers) on pages 104 and 105. As for
Star Trek, there's a six page comic included.
Here's Abrams talking about the issue.

So, if you saw the preview for
last night's special two-hour Brothers & Sisters, you were anticipating that someone was going to die. Then, if you surfed the net, there were all kinds of rumors and spoilers that something life-altering was going to happen. Would it be Tommy? What about Kitty and Robert's newborn, coming via surrogate mom? Would Nora keel over from all that running in the hospital hallways? Maybe it was going to be something from left field, like Uncle Saul gagging on a wine cork and kicking the bucket?
Imagine my shock and surprise when all the build up turned out to be something unexpected. If you haven't watched it yet, I'll save it for after the jump.
