Starting today, the long-running soap opera Days of Our Lives will be available on iTunes for the usual $1.99 per episode. Fans can also get episodes a bit cheaper by purchasing twenty episodes for $9.99.
According to Variety, placing Days on iTunes is most likely a move to get more people to watch the series, which has lost some viewers over the last year or so. Frankly, I don't see why more soap operas aren't made available this way, or, even better, made available for free online. Soaps more or less require a person to be tuned in day in and day out, and fans, one assumes, would love to be able to go back and catch up on whatever they might have missed.
This, however, leads to another question, which is "how old are the people watching Days, and how many of those people are going to use iTunes for anything?" Something tells me an iTunes promotional push isn't going to be much help.

Who wants to be a soap star? Well, apparently quite a few people. Casting auditions for the third season of SoapNet's
I Wanna Be A Soap Star have been underway in major cities like New York and Chicago, and people from all walks of life have been trying out for the series, the winner of which will be given a thirteen-week contract to appear on the popular ABC soap opera
One Life To Live. Despite this being the third season, I hadn't even heard of this show until recently. Of course, I'm also not an avid soap opera watcher, so it's not as if a show like this would have been on my radar, anyway. If any of you have seen it, I'd love to hear your take on it. Is it a worthy "guilty pleasure" or something I should avoid? The new season begins this Thursday at 11 p.m. EST.

Well, the article actually calls them "stunt ARTISTS" but I've decided to use the
more old-fashioned "stuntmen." Unless the piece is actually referring to people who paint pictures while
leaping off buildings. If so, my bad. At any rate, ABC didn't say much, except that during a special effects shot last
Tuesday four stuntpeople were injured. Everyone is expected to recover, however. The shot apparently involved an
explosion which was part of an upcoming Mardi Gras episode.
