Al Franken IS Mick Jagger, in this clip from ... Solid Gold!

Well, they finally settled that Norm Coleman vs. Al Franken race in Minnesota. So I thought this would be a good opportunity to show Franken in another time, impersonating Rolling Stones singer Mick Jagger on Solid Gold in the 80s. Partner Tom Davis is doing Keith Richards. I wonder if Franken would have won if Coleman had just run this video on a continuous loop on his web site for a year.

Madame is still around

MadameWayland Flowers may not be with us any longer (he died in 1988), but his famous puppet is still going strong. Madame has her own web site, and is now controlled by another puppet master. Seems she was devastated after Flowers' death, and is only now starting to perform again:

"I stayed in my box for what seemed like an eternity to my many fans, only coming out for the occasional dry martini and foot massage...well, a girl can't allow herself to go to pot!"

Madame is going to be perform again, though there are no dates posted on the site yet. However, you can see photos of Madame with her celeb friends, including Whoopi Goldberg, Frank Sinatra, Jimmy Stewart, and Robin Williams. There's one of Wayland Flowers and Joan Rivers, and I swear I thought it was Madame at first.

(There must be a bunch of readers in their 20s saying to themselves right now, "Who the hell is Madame?!?" Heh.)

MTV greenlights reality show produced by J.Lo

jennifer lopezMTV has signed on to a reality show about dancers, and it's executive produced by Jennifer Lopez. Called Moves, the show is described as "The Real World meets Solid Gold". It chronicles the trials and tribulations of aspiring dancers, as they audition in the tough world of professional dance. Lopez reportedly had a hand in selecting the contestants and will even make a cameo or two in the show. You may recall that J.Lo started out as a dancer on the sketch-comeedy show, In Living Color, before her big break in the movie, Selena.

MTV has ordered eight episodes of Moves. They hit the air this winter.
