Ski Channel to launch next year
Yes, for everyone who has been waiting for a network devoted to nothing but skiiing (I'm one to talk; if I had The Tennis Channel I'd watch it 24/7), this is your lucky day. Or, to be more exact, some day in 2008 will be your lucky day.
That's when The Ski Channel launches. It's a new network devoted to, um, skiiing. I can't tell if it's going to be a regular network or something else, because it is described as a "network with distribution on video-on-demand and multimedia platforms." OK.
I was wondering how they'll fill the time with just skiiing, but they have that covered. From the article:

Rob & Big coming to MTV
Jeff Tremaine, the creator of both Jackass and Wild Boyz, has developed a new reality series for MTV called Rob & Big, which will feature skateboarder Rob Dyrdek and his bodyguard, Christopher "Big Black" Boykin living together in the Hollywood Hills (Anna mentioned the series back in April). The series will debut on November 2, but if you're really excited to see what the show is all about for some reason, you can watch a five-minute sneak peek on MTV October 26. The sneak peek will also be available on MTV.com and on MTV's mobile services. The first episode will also be available through iTunes October 31, with subsequent episodes available through iTunes the Tuesday after they air on MTV. Dyrdek and Boykin met when Dyrdek hired him as a bodyguard to help protect him from cops who would hassle him for skateboarding. And no, that sentence didn't make a lot of sense to me either, but there you go.Skateboarder gets MTV reality show
Yet another new reality series coming to MTV. This time,
it's all about the life and times of pro skateboarder Rob Dyrdek and his
"bodyguard/best friend/roommate" Christopher "Big Black" Boykin. Dyrdek has been a pro skater since
he was 16 (he's now 31). He hired his bodyguard when Dyrdek kept getting harassed by cops for skating in the streets.
MTV cameras will follow the two around in the home they share in the Hollywood Hills and out on the skateboarding
circuit. Dyrdek describes life with Boykin as "all day comedy".
