The Dead Zone: Transgressions

johnny in church(S06E09) At first, I thought this season was going to be heading somewhere, but it seems that it's getting stuck in the muck. The episodes continue to cover territory that they have already covered. Tonight, it was about Johnny's struggles with the fact that he doesn't have much religious faith, despite his relationship with the now-absent Reverend Purdy, and his mother's own generous donations to the Heritage Foundation. We have been over this before in previous seasons-- like last season, as a matter of fact.

The Dead Zone: Interred

johnny and turner(S06E05) This episode was fine. It was interesting, had some urgency and thrills. It had some humor and some pathos. But it feels an awful lot like starting over. And I am just not sure why at this point. Especially if they are killing the Stillson storyline. I have liked the show, and I think the show showed some promise earlier in the season. But it feels a little old and a little tired.

I wish they would move forward with the information about why Sheriff Turner is investigating Walt. They haven't really touched upon that, though, to look at the show's website, you would think this investigation was going to be plastered all over every episode.

The Dead Zone: Ego

Johnny and new Sheriff(S06E02) Well, it would seem that the folks who predicted last week that the apocalyptic storyline featuring Greg Stillson was over are right. At least for now. The tagline for this season is "The Season That Changes Everything." I think they are telling us loud and clear that we are headed in a new direction. I think this might be a good thing. After all, Johnny stopping Stillson ends the movie and the book. The TV show has made many departures from the book and movie, so why not take that further? I was very frustrated last season because I thought the show had really lost that focus and was now disparate, unconnected episodes in which Johnny did nothing more than solve cases. But if the show changes its focus to having that happen, then fine.

Reno 911!: Son of a Chechekevitch

reno 911(S04E06) Fans of Reno 911! know there's been a running gag since the first season in which Dangle always has his bike stolen from him in broad daylight, even when he tries to lock it to something. In the opening scene of this episode he thinks he's found a fool-proof way to catch the person that keeps swiping his bike: he uses a special mirror to hide behind a building and peer out at his bike. Unfortunately, just as he gets the mirror adjusted somebody zips by on his bike and grabs the mirror.

After the opening credits we get into the real meat of the episode, which begins with Sheriff Chechekevitch being hauled into an ambulance and telling Dangle to avenge his death. Chechekevitch also appeared in season two during a three-episode story arc when Jones and Garcia were being charged with murdering a man dressed as a milkshake. The deputies all love him, at least, they think he was pretty good for a Polish sheriff. Really, they've had better sheriffs.

Reno 911!: the movie

Move over Super Troopers, Comedy Central's Reno 911! will be coming to a theater near you. Paramount and 20th Century FOX are co-producing the flick, which is going to be called Reno 911!: Miami. Oh, that's a good title! Series co-creators Robert Garant, Thomas Lennon and Kerri Kenney, who also star in the series, are penning the script, which is described as being largely improvisational. Kinda like the show. In the movie, the entire Reno sheriff's department goes to a police convention in Miami during Spring Break (who's manning the station back at home? who cares!), where a bio-attack is launched on their hotel. I wonder if they'll still bleep out the profanity and blur the nudity, since it's shot in the style of a cops show. It starts shooting January 23rd in LA and Miami.

I love Reno 911! and I think I'll probably buy a ticket to the movie when it comes out. What do you guys think? Can Reno 911! translate to the big screen?
