The OC: The Case of the Franks

Ben McKenzie as Ryan Atwood on 'The OC.'(S04E13) One down and four to go. It's starting to feel like the end too, isn't it? Everyone seems to be finding their place. Sort of.

First off... Frank. I don't think I like him as much as I did the first time around. The whole idea of Ryan's father suddenly being in the picture feels a little forced. It was really the one unresolved thing left in his life and for that reason I suppose it makes sense that he's here now. It's just awkward and I can't quite put my finger on why. Maybe because he's been around for about 8 seconds and he's in love with Julie? Or because it's Kevin Sorbo?

I suppose it doesn't matter because the one thing you have to remember is what the show is about.

The O.C.: The Man of the Year

adambrody(S03E24) Prom is over and enter the aftermath. But surprise, surprise...Volchok? Not dead. Thank God. Don't get me wrong, I don't particularly care if the guy lives or dies, but it would have just been bizarro times infinity if another one of Marissa's love interests ended up in the morgue. She does seem to like them on the brink of death.

But nope, Ryan rushes (not really, more like leisurely drives) Volchok to the hospital during a trippy, light-filled montage, and Volchok awakes without even seeing a doctor. Volchok (ever the good guy) doesn't sell Ryan out and claims he was jumped by a group of thugs. But it turns out that Volchok is not "ever the good guy."

Get Seth Cohen's comic on your phone

seth cohen; atomic countySeth Cohen's graphic novel is jumping off the small screen and onto an even smaller one. Seth's character on The O.C. created a graphic novel based on his family and friends, called Atomic County. That comic has been turned into a cartoon and will be available to Verizon wireless customers. The premise of the 14-episode series is that someone stole Seth's drawings and then the drawings come to life. The animated shorts will last three minutes. In addition, subscribers will get behind-the-scenes video and bloopers of The O.C.

The O.C.: The Day After Tomorrow

adam
brody(S03E20) It's college acceptance (or rejection) day in Orange County. I just love how via the magic of television everybody finds out on the exact same day if they got into college or not. I also love that none of the characters oo the show applied to any safety schools. You would think that a guidance counselor would advise them to apply to at least two schools, but whatever, everybody got into the school of their dreams...minus poor Seth.

The O.C.: The Pot Stirrer

dare shirtEvery once in a while The O.C. likes to have episodes that are sort of a downer. I think of them as bummer episodes. Nothing goes right, and all the characters are really bummed out about their lives. There is usually a sad music/blank face montage at the end of the show to make us feel sad and bummed out about our own lives too. This was one of those episodes. It's Kaitlin's 15th birthday, but nobody cares. Nobody feels much like celebrating, including Kaitlin, who would rather spend her time seducing Johnny. Does she like Johnny or is she just trying to make Marissa jealous?

Adam Brody's new project really bites

Adam Brody, also known as Seth Cohen on The O.C., is going behind-the-scenes for his next project. He's developing a show for NBC about modern-day LAPD cops who hunt for vampires. Brody is executive producing the project, which already has a script commitment from NBC. There's no title yet for the program, which centers around a rookie cop who joins the vampire-hunting squad. There aren't a whole lot of details about the project and whether it's supposed to be funny, scary, or dramatic (or all three). It's probably a good idea for all the actors on The O.C. to start looking for other projects since the end of this season marks their graduation from high school, which is usually the beginning of the end for shows like these.

Adam is also producing a remake of Revenge of the Nerds for FOX Searchlight. Who do you think they will get to play Booger?
