Yeah, sure, I was snookered. Oprah dipped into the Viral Marketing 101 handbook when she ran promos asking, "What is the secret?" It wasn't enough to get me to watch
Oprah, but I did investigate
online to find out what "secret" was being kept from me by the good people at Harpo Productions.
What "secret" could Oprah possibly have left to share? Over the years, she's told me to embrace my spirit, cut out the "white" stuff, wear cotton underwear and drive a Pontiac. Apparently, Oprah's "secret" is
The Secret by Rhonda Byrne - another in a long line of vaguely spiritual Four Agreements/Celestine Prophecy/Miracle Matrix self-help tomes.

If
The Today Show and
Good Morning, America aren't enough for you. If
CBS This Morning doesn't float your boat, and you don't really want to watch CNN's
American Morning or your local morning show, then FOX has
another option coming next year.
The network will launch a national morning program from New York, to be hosted by FOX News personalities Mike Jerrick and Juliet Huddy. It will feature news and celebs and music and all that. In other words, another morning show.
This flashes me back to the days when FOX actually did have a morning show. When they took
Breakfast Time from FX, changed it to
FOX After Breakfast, destroyed it, and then changed it into the
Vicki Lawrence Show. Ugh. What a sad end to one of the great morning shows in history.

I just saw a commercial for the TV coverage of the annual Boston Pops Concert for the Fourth of July. This year, the event is going to be hosted by...Dr. Phil and his wife?!?
Oh, sure, what better way to celebrate our national holiday than with the overbearing host of an exploitive, unhelpful talk show that masquerades as a "helpful discussion" when it's really just as bad as Maury Povich. I'm confused by this. I don't know if I was going to watch the concert anyway (the music is nice but I'm not a fireworks fan), but this nailed it: I'm not going to watch it at all.
Maybe next year they can get Courtney Love and Jerry Springer to host!
