Top Chef's exciting new location

Top C logoBravo's top-rated and highly acclaimed reality food show, Top Chef, has big plans for the fifth season. Like real estate, it's all about location, location, location and Top Chef has chosen a most unique place, somewhere you might not guess in a game of 20 questions. I'm not going to reveal the place until after the jump, because there may be some of you out there that want to be surprised.

Just to recap, Top Chef has already spent seasons in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Miami and Chicago. They've also had special episodes and finales in Napa Valley, Las Vegas, Hawaii and Aspen and San Juan, Puerto Rico. Traveling to interesting and even exotic locales is part of the fun, giving the contestants a chance to incorporate the regional foods and the style of that part of the world.

Okay, if the suspense is getting to you -- I know it is -- go to the jump and see where season five of Top Chef is going to be...

Stargate Atlantis may be coming back earlier than expected

Atlantis may be coming back sooner than you think.A few weeks ago we reported that a fifth season of Stargate Atlantis would be airing on the SciFi network sometime in the fall, just as the fourth season did back in 2007. Well, it now seems like the premiere of the new season will be moving up a couple of months.

A number of online resources, including Gateworld, TV Guide, and the personal blog of Atlantis executive producer Joseph Mallozzi, are reporting that the show will be premiering in July. "The decision on the Season Five premiere date rests with SCI FI," Mallozzi writes in his blog, "However, I'm hopeful that fans won't have to wait until the fall to see the resolution of our Season Four cliffhanger."

Nip/Tuck, season five -- An early look

Julian McMahon and Dylan Walsh star in FX's Nip/Tuck.
It's been almost a year since McNamara/Troy closed up shop in Miami and packed their bags for Los Angeles, in search of a better life. Following up on a season where just about every loose thread from the world of Nip/Tuck got answered might seem like a daunting task, but look at it this way: after two seasons of some of the best stuff on TV, Nip/Tuck returned for a third time to mixed reviews because of the season long focus on The Carver. For the most part, the show returned to its roots in season four, but overall it was clear that the FX drama needed its own face lift. Starting from scratch in a city where you can order a pizza and a boob-job at the same time seemed like a perfect fit. Fans of the show can rest assured that it is. I've screened the first two episodes of the new season and creator Ryan Murphy has continued to provide us with a show that indulges all our guilty pleasures.

Chris DaughtryChris Daughtry, American Idol Season Five's hard-rocking fourth runner-up, proves once again, that you don't have to win American Idol in order to have a successful career in music.

This week, Daughtry's self-titled debut album sold 65,000 copies -- just 134 more copies than the Dreamgirls soundtrack -- leaping to the No. 1 spot on the Billboard album charts.

Final season of NewsRadio on DVD in March

newsradioI have to admit, I didn't watch NewsRadio too much when it originally aired. Sure, I'd catch an episode now and again, and always thought the show was very smart and very funny, but it wasn't until recently that I've been able to go back and catch up on the show through repeats. I do recall, however, that after Phil Hartman's death in 1998 I watched the show even less. It was hard to imagine the show without him, and while I like Jon Lovitz just fine, for me the series ended with Hartman's death.

The fifth and final season, which comes out on DVD March 20, begins with the episode "Bill Moves On" in which the team mourns the death of Bill McNeal, the arrogant radio personality portrayed by Hartman. I think many fans consider this the worst season, which is understandable. Still, if you're like me you hate to have any kind of gap in your DVDs, and you'll probably purchase it anyway. The set will retail for $39.95.

Keep listening: The Wire takes the fifth

The Wire

Numerous sources are reporting that HBO has decided to give The Wire a fifth and final season. The fourth season, which premiered this past Sunday, was met with great reviews from critics everywhere. However, as most expected, the ratings for the opening episode weren't so hot. No dates have been set for when the fifth season will begin shooting but it is known that the running theme for the season will be how the mass media affects all aspects of the Baltimore streets. Personally, I think this is fantastic news. It's great that HBO recognizes what this show means to the fans and now we'll get a final season to wrap it up properly. Too bad HBO wasn't willing to extend the same courtesy to Deadwood.
