It happens every year. Somebody online always puts together a list of "finalists" for the upcoming season of American Idol, and while they usually have at least some of them right, they usually don't have them all right. MTV News says this year's list comes courtesy of IdolForums.com, so if you don't like spoilery stuff, don't go there. "JoesPlace" posted the list giving names, ages, and MySpace pages of the Hollywood bound contestants.
If you do want to learn anything about these people outside the FOX media influence, you'd better hit up the MySpace pages, as past experience has proven that FOX strips these pages to the bare minimum once the show starts. "Hi, my name is Bob. Vote for me on FOX's American Idol", and maybe one picture.

Here's an easy way to get your wife mad at you: come home from a week of stand-up comedy gigs and announce that you can't take the baby right away because you have to liveblog the Emmys. Then, sit back, relax, and let the soothing sounds of Seacrest provide the background music for your wife telling you exactly what you can do with your "liveblog".
I'm expecting our time together tonight to make it all worth it, though. The VMA liveblog was among my favorite things I've ever done here at TV Squad. That being said, I'm still going to petition my editors here for combat pay.
On with the liveblog! (Check out the
gallery list of Emmy pics.)

We're down to three remaining challengers in this year's
American Idol, and it looks like it's going to be a very tight race for second place. But according to odds makers,
first place is pretty much a lock for Jordin Sparks -- the odds-on favorite to win this year's
Idol.Odds makers are also predicting a final showdown between Jordin and Blake, leaving Melinda as a third place finisher. But we all know that anything can happen - and it ain't over until Seacrest is out.

As Anna
mentioned previously, Ryan Seacrest, the hardest working metrosexual in show business, signed on with E!
News as a co-anchor and managing editor. Well, tonight is his big debut, so we'll get to see just how adept he is
at making the trivial sound exciting, which is pretty much the only criteria for being an entertainment reporter:
"Queen Latifah was seen yesterday wearing a BLUE HAT!" Oh yeah, Idol fans need not worry. Seacrest
is still sticking with the show, as well as his many other TV and radio duties. Of course, now the question is how long
Seacrest can maintain this workload before he actually loses his mind on the air. I think I just gave myself a reason to
tune in.
