As it's been speculated in the last months,
Scrubs will not be the same when entering its ninth season. We know that Zach Braff and Sarah Chalke have
both inked deals to appear in only six episodes and that, since Donald Faison's pilot wasn't picked up, rumors were going around that
Scrubs 2.0 could revolve around Turk and medical school.
Confirmation has finally arrived and the show will indeed go through an extreme makeover that will take the action from the hospital to medical school.
Slight spoilers coming up!Continue reading Scrubs goes back to school

What will the upcoming ninth season of
Scrubs look like? Only ABC and show creator Bill Lawrence know the answer to that question.
During the network's recent upfront presentation, ABC Entertainment president Steve McPherson said Lawrence was playing with two possible scenarios for the show, one of which is "a complete rethinking" and the other a simple continuation of the format with a new cast.
Either way, things will be different. And with star Zach Braff signed on for only six episodes next season and Sarah Chalke not looking to return full-time, it seems like this might be Donald Faison's time to shine. Or bomb terribly. It could go either way, really.

If ABC renews
Scrubs for another season, the show might return without two of its longtime writer-producers.
Scrubs scribes Garrett Donovan and Neil Goldman
will join NBC's upcoming comedy Community under a new two-year deal with Universal Media Studios.
Community was reportedly a big hit at NBC's recent infront presentation, and it looks like the network has high hopes for the show.
Judging by the
preview video that hit the Web this week,
Community looks pretty damn hilarious. It stars Joel McHale (
The Soup) as a lawyer who is forced to go back to community college. In an attempt to get closer to a girl who looks like Elisabeth Shue, he starts a study group with a team of misfits, including a quirky lifelong learner played by Chevy Chase.

This is probably an odd thing to say in a post at a TV blog, but you probably shouldn't look at the video below. It's not exactly a spoiler in the strictest sense, but it does show what will definitely be a very special moment in the history of
Scrubs. It really does feel like a series finale, not a season finale, so I'm curious to see how they handle things if the show does return for
another season.

(Update: Bill Lawrence himself responds to my plea in the comments.)Oy, not again.
First we heard, straight from Bill Lawrence's mouth, that
Scrubs could get a ninth season. Then we heard
it was definitely done at the end of this current eighth season. Now,
The Hollywood Reporter is hearing that
talks to renew the show are back on, with Lawrence and company trying to figure out how to bring back most of the cast, at least in a recurring fashion.
They have to be recurring, since
Zach Braff has vowed that he's done with the show, and Neil Flynn, John C. McGinley, and Donald Faison are all attached to new pilots, with
Scrubs being a second option in case they're not picked up. Heck, even Lawrence is busy on the new Courteney Cox show
Cougar Town.
I'm here, as one of the show's biggest fans, to beg ABC and Lawrence to let the show die. Please. It's the best thing they can do for it.

(S01E01) While at its heart, and based on its creators (Michael Schur and Greg Daniels of
The Office), you can't help but compare
Parks & Recreation to
The Office. They both film in that mockumentary style, they both feature clueless leads, and they have some of the same comic sensibilities. But how many multi-camera family sitcoms were on the air back in the '80s?
Seinfeld and
Friends clones in the '90s? Crime procedurals in the '00s?
It doesn't matter if a show shares similar traits with another if it has a voice all its own. And as I indicated in my
"Early Look" of Parks & Recreation, they even use the documentary-style camera work differently. But the real difference for me is in the work of Amy Poehler.

Our head honcho Joel is at it again. If you haven't taken his
24 quiz on Parade.com, scamper over there right now and test your knowledge of all things Jack, Tony and CTU.
And now's your chance to
test your Scrubs mojo with Joel's latest quiz on the long-running doc show. Answer questions like: Which actor does Dr. Cox frequently rant about? What nationality is Carla's family? And which role is played by creator Bill Lawrence's wife?
I'm not a
Scrubs expert, but took the quiz anyway just to see how many guesses I'd get right. Not many. I'm sure you'll fare much better.
Take the quiz
here, and let us know how you did!

According to industry scuttlebutt,
My Name Is Earl is on the ropes and at risk of being canceled by NBC. Nikki Finke is reporting that it's practically a done deal at NBC, but
Earl could be moving to Fox.
It's not just the lousy Nielsen ratings that have done the shaggy-dog sitcom in, it's also the rising production costs. NBC has an entire line-up that's bleeding in the ratings, so surgery is required. It is very likely that
Earl will get the ax.

Writing an episode of a show as literally seen through another character's eyes, a point of view episode, seems like an obvious stunt. That is, unless you can pull it off as brilliantly as
House did last night. The episode unfolded mainly through the POV of a man with "locked-in syndrome," played by guest star Mos Def.
The big advantage of telling a story that way is, obviously, to get inside the head of one person, and get their insight into everything that's going on. Unfiltered, in real time.
Scrubs plays with the point of view all the time, but when you stick with one long enough, it changes the feel of the story. In the first episode of season five, "
My Intern's Eyes,"
Scrubs used the point of view of an intern, Keith, to show how awkward and frightening Sacred Heart could be. That was a great transition as J.D became an attending. We got to see J.D.'s new role, plus get a reminder of how the show began. The best of both worlds.
