It's finale time again! No, really.

The end is near for our favoirite showsHoly frik! We've only just started to embrace the return of our shows after a shortened strike season. Now, they are almost over. In the next few weeks all of our network favorites will say good-bye for the summer to be replaced with reality shows, reality game shows, reality soap operas, and Regis on primetime (again).

Needless to say, I'm a bit depressed. As I am sure you are as well. But, we will do our duty and press on. Thusly, we here at the sprawling lakefront offices of TV Squad (you choose the lakefront) have compiled list of when your favorite, and not so favorite, shows will be saying good-bye for their summer vacation. As usual, taking the fickleness of the networks, these times and days can change at a moment's notices. We will try to update you of those changes as quickly as our little fingers can type it out.

So, with a leaden heart, here are your season and series finales.

What's On Tonight: Smackdown, Doctor Who, The Soup

  • I Love Lucy logoAt 8, PBS has a new NOW, then new episodes of Washington Week and Bill Moyers Journal.
  • The CW has a new Smackdown! at 8.
  • Sci-Fi has a new Sarah Jane Adventures at 8, followed by the season premiere of Doctor Who and a new Battlestar Galactica.
  • TV Land has an I Love Lucy marathon starting at 8.
  • At 9, ABC has a new Duel, followed by a new 20/20.
  • NBC has a new, two hour Dateline at 9.
  • There's a new Canterbury's Law at 9 on FOX.
  • Cartoon Network has a new Ben 10: Alien Force at 9.
  • At 10, E! has a new episode of The Soup.
  • Spike has a new UFC Fight Night at 10.
  • At 11, HBO has a new Real Time with Bill Maher, with guests Cornel West, Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Markos Moulitsas, and Jeremy Scahill.

Sci Fi brings back The Doctor, and Sarah Jane, too

The Sarah Jane AdventuresIn the No Duh News category, Sci Fi Channel has reported that they've acquired the fourth series (or season) of Doctor Who for air beginning in April. What's great additional news is that they've also picked up The Sarah Jane Adventures as well. The latter series focuses on Elisabeth Sladen's Sarah Jane, one of the most popular and famous "companions" in Who History, as she battles to keep Britain and the world save from alien encounters and invasions.

Sarah Jane is aided by a small group of children in her quest. And while the series has a lower budget than Who and is geared more towards a children's audience, I still found it to be tremendously fun. And any opportunity to see K-9 is worth it in my book!
