(S02E10) Finally! After waiting all summer, and ten episodes into the new season,
Supernatural fans get the answer they have all been waiting for. It's not quite a complete answer, but it's enough for now. That five week break between "Croatoan" and "Hunted" was a rough one given the cliff-hanger ending. The writers had one more surprise for us though, as it turns out Dean didn't really have the secret.
When Dean revealed that John had told him he had to save Sam, and that if he couldn't he'd have to kill him, I was left thinking, "And...." There had to be more to it than that. Apparently Dean didn't get the full story, but luckily for us, and I guess for Dean and Sam too, Scott Carey (Richard de Klerk) got the full scoop straight from the demon. As he tells his therapist, "There's a war coming, and people like me, we're gonna be the soldiers."

(S02E03) Supernatural does music better than just about anyone, and this week's episode started with two great songs. Wheels In The Sky over the previously on scenes, and then Back In Black to reintroduce the Impala. Very slick. I thought coming in that we would probably get an episode that dropped the overall arc in favor of a creature of the week show. For the most part, that's what we got. There was a much more relaxed vibe as we got into this episode.
The big setup scene with the girl running from the baddie reminded me of the
Friday the 13th movies. Right up until the baddie started sprinting anyway. Jason, while a killing machine, is more tortoise, less hare. Of course the beauty of this scene was revealed later. After Dean and Sam run their Weekly World News scam (HA!), they get into the morgue to get a look at the girls head, and what do you know, she's a vampire. Cool special effects shot with the fang too. Suddenly everything we saw in the opening is flipped around.

(S02E02) I was really looking forward to this episode after the dramatic end to the premiere. How would they deal with the death of John? To me, this was almost two separate episodes. On the one hand we had the mystery/adventure story, and on the other we have Dean and Sam starting to work through the loss of their dad. And both of these arcs played out very well.
First, the clowns. I started to get whigged out when I saw the title of this episode. I read "It" at far too young an age, so clowns have always bugged me. There's just something not right with a clown. And there is really something not right with the clown in this episode. Very creepy. This was probably the scariest episode of the series since "Bloody Mary."

There's usually nothing on Saturday nights but repeats of crime dramas and maybe some movie everyone has seen (and
Cops), but NBC has something for all you fans of
The 4400 that have been waiting for the new season to start. NBC (which owns USA) will have
a one hour clip show to get fans (and non-fans) up to speed on the plot and the characters. The special will air at 9pm.
The third season of
The 4400 starts on June 11. I haven't seen even one episode of this show, so maybe I'll tune in and see how it is.
