Besides being renowned for his spoilers,
Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello is also know for his blind items. The gossip columnist has been toying with readers with his "you'll never guess who" type of gossip posts since his
TV Guide days. This week, Ausiello announced to the world that
one major TV star was about to get booted from his or her show and didn't know about it yet. Since this is one of Ausiello's blind items, he doesn't reveal just who may exit a popular TV series. However, he does leave clues for us to try and find out who he's talking about.
Why not join me in trying to find out which TV star is about to get axed and doesn't know it yet? The picture on the right gives you an idea of who I hope will get axed. However, she is not who I think Ausiello is really referring to...

This is being reported by the British "newspaper" The Sun, so I urge you to consider the source before going mad with anticipation. The Sun first reported that
Catherine Tate, Bernard Cribbins and John Simm would revisit their roles as Donna, Wilf and The Master respectively in one of the upcoming
Doctor Who specials slated for 2009. Later, it reported that
Paul McGann would return as the Doctor in a flashback capacity.
I would love for any of that to happen. Particularly McGann's return. But, it's The Sun. They're made it standard operating procedure to publish unsubstantiated rumors from unnamed sources. Much as I wish these were true, I'm not going to hold my breath unless I hear it from some sort of official source. Preferably the BBC.
Still, considering that I'm mentioning the articles here and including links back to the originals, we can conclude that this method of cheap publicity works. Bravo to The Sun! Thanks for eventually disappointing millions of
Doctor Who fans worldwide.

Thanks to the success of the
Sex and the City movie -- and talk of more to come -- the rumor mill has been bubbling with other TV shows making the leap to the big screen. In the case of
Arrested Development, it
sure sounds like the truth.
However,
the Friends feature is a rumor that has no legs. Warners owns the property and on July 4th, even though all U.S. offices were closed for the holiday, denied the rumors via the London office.
Jayne Trotman,
Warner's director of publicity, said of the Friends movie, "(There's) no truth in the story." Just to be sure, Matthew Perry's press rep also denied the rumor. She told the BBC that nothing is happening and the rumor is just that, a shred of news with no value attached to it.

In about two weeks, we'll have a whole new season of
Survivor and it's sounding like this season is surely one to watch, especially if you're a die-hard fan of the series. If you remember, I'm the one who tends to peek at the end of a book while reading it. So I've done my thing. I've scouted around the internet seeking rumors, spoilers, possible foilers and more for you!
I can't vouch for the spoilers I'll be listing after the jump, but we'll see what happens. If you're not into spoilers, the images in the gallery below are from the first episode but contain no spoilers. Some odd characters, but no spoilers.

Spoilers, rumors, and foilers, oh my! With the internet at the hands of fans, secrets aren't always too secret these days. While scripted shows like
Lost might possibly put out their own foilers -- red herrings to lead the audiences astray -- often the spoilers for shows such as
Survivor or
The Amazing Race are more spot on. In the case of the latter, too many people see the bits and pieces of the race as it goes through the countries.
This season's
Survivor China actually inadvertently put out some of the first spoilers right in their own promotional videos on the official website. Maybe it wasn't so inadvertently, but you don't film in the challenge-making offices with information which can be enlarged and sharpened. Heh. There are websites like
Survivor Fever and
Survivor Skills who have a track record for accurate spoilers, as well as online wagering websites who have shut down betting due to odd patterns.
Read on for severe show spoilers ...

This clip is worth it for the reaction of Gawker editor Emily Gould. She seems completely shocked and unprepared.
Jimmy Kimmel was guest host on Larry King Live on Friday night, and the topic was gossip, celebrity stalking, and the various celeb mags and web sites. Though usually irreverent, Kimmel was dead serious about confronting Gould about the many false or mistaken sightings that readers (or as Gould calls them, "citizen journalists," gag) sent into Gawker Stalker.

This Wednesday, January 10 at 10pm TV Land will debut a new series called Myths and Legends. The series will supposedly uncover the truth behind such urban legends as Mama Cass' death by ham sandwich, the hanging Munchkin from the Wizard of Oz, and Walt Disney's frozen head.
I only see one problem with this new show: it's completely unnecessary. A lot of the stuff this show plans to cover has already been covered before by other TV specials, and folks who were curious about these things have already investigated with the help of sites like Snopes.com. I'm usually a big fan of TV Land's original shows -- hell, I even liked I Pity the Fool, but someone tell me how this show made it to the air? Do I really want to sit and watch a show that tells me things I already know?
Okay, I won't completely dismiss a show I've yet to see. Maybe they'll approach these old rumors in a cool and refreshing way, but the premise alone feels more than a little stale.

We at
TV Squad have been getting an outpouring of questions about Eddie Izzard all day.
Three separate Internet sources (that I know about and as of this writing) are claiming that the famously funny British actor/comedian has quit the cast of
24. He did one day of filming before the split. Apparently, Izzard
is filming his own TV series now with Minnie Driver. It is called
The Riches. According to these sources, Izzard has been quietly replaced with British actor David Hunt, who is married to actress Patrician Heaton. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find out any additional information about what happened with Izzard on the set.

It's only a rumor at this point, but according to
Variety.com (registration required to read the full article), NBC is thinking of adding a
fourth hour to the
Today show. Yes, that's right, kids: more make-up tips, more cooking segments, and even more of our jolly friend
Al Roker.
There are two factors that might make this a reality: network affiliates are seeking cheaper 10 AM options -- syndicated programming usually airs there -- and the show is renovating and expanding their studios to accommodate a permanent kitchen, among other things. The show is also taking expanded dressing room and makeup room space. The new studio will be ready in time for Meredith Vieira's arrival in September.
All of this makes them ready to house more on-air talent if the need to expand arises. The third hour has already been shown to be a proving ground for new anchors like Natalie Morales and María Celeste Arrarás, and the fourth hour will be no different. If they
do decide to go to a fourth hour, I have three words for them: More
Jean Chatzky.

Rumors are rampant that
Arrested
Development has been picked up by Showtime for a 26-episode order. Page Six in the
New York Post floated that story this morning, in fact (which was
replayed on Salon.com).
However, that's all they
are right now: rumors. Fellow Squadder Ryan j Budke found out from his source at Showtime, who is close to the
negotiations, that they are still in talks about the show and nothing is official yet. There may be an official
announcement later in the week, but that's about the only information we've been given.
Don't worry: if word
comes out that
AD has been officially picked up, we'll have it for you.

Lost
producers are denying rumors in
US
Weekly that Michelle Rodriguez, who plays the unlikable Ana Lucia on
Lost, is being booted off the show
for her bad behavior. Michelle's
poor
decisions about drinking and driving made headlines several times during the fall, but
Lost producers say
that's no reason to vote the girl off the island.
Co-creator Damon Lindeloff told TV Guide Online's
Ask
Ausiello, "Not a word of it is true.
Lost's story is the star, and no actor would ever be killed off
for any reason other than supporting the story."
Hmmm. Damon may be speaking a little too early on that
one. Rodriguez
goes to trial in March on
her latest drunk driving charge, where she could be sent to California for
violating probation
related to drunk driving charges there. I think that'd bring a quick end to Ana Lucia.

Last night, Jonathan
wrote about a report that claimed the six main actors from
Friends were going to reunite for a series of one-hour specials. It also mentioned that the three male leads -- Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and David Schwimmer -- were going to star in a spin-off. Readers responded by either getting their hopes up or cursing NBC for digging up the corpse of a series that died a year and a half ago.
Well, we've got more news for you: It ain't gonna happen, at least according to NBC.
Here's the update from Jonathan:
"Consider this rumor dead as most of us wisely assumed from the get go. Access Hollywood had
this to say earlier today, with a direct quote from Jeff Zucker (CEO of NBC Universal's TV Group) squashing the rumors.
Also, many thanks to TV Squad's own Ryan j Budke, who spent numerous hours on the phone this morning with NBC's Media Relations Department, who had this to say: 'There are currently no plans to have any follow-up to Friends other than Joey, which is still a major part of our comedy line-up and we whole-heartedly support. The rumors started this weekend are just that; rumors. We wish the rest of the cast of Friends continued success in their careers, and would welcome them back at any time, but there are currently no plans for them to appear in their Friends roles.' "

As anyone who reads IMDb knows, many of the titles listed as "in development" or even "announced"
have to be taken with a grain of salt. So when you see the entry for a
He-Man movie being directed by none other than John Woo, you
have to ask yourself, "OK, who posted this crap? And if it's not crap, dear gods
why are they making
this?"
Kryptonsite got news from the person listed to play
Skeletor, John Glover (of
Smallville), and he knows nothing about this movie. In any case, I hope the studios
remember the
first time such a task was attempted. Ugh.

From the Totally Unsubstantiated Rumor file:
Page Six is
"reporting" this morning that a cashed-strapped Courtney Love - slimmed down and drug free but apparently
broke as all get out – is working on selling the rights to her late husband Kurt Cobain's musical output. This
comes after a messy, multi-year battle between Love and Cobain's former band mates Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic (as
well as original drummer Chad Channing, at least according to the Sixers) over the future of the Nirvana catalogue: if
I remember correctly, the boys wanted to put everything in the hands of the fans, whilst Love wanted to slowly parcel
out the outakes and rarities to ensure the maximum padding for Frances Bean's college fund. Page Six says Love is
looking for $100 million.
