Rosie O'Donnell appeared on the special episode earlier today, one day after Telepictures (the company that syndicates Ellen) called and tried to get the episode pulled. That's right, a company called the day before an episode aired to try and get it pulled. Seems that Telepictures is worried that if Rachael Ray airs old footage from The Rosie O'Donnell Show (which Telepictures also syndicated), then Ellen would be beaten in the ratings.

Permalink | Email this | | Comments

Betty White to appear on Million Dollar Password

Filed under: Celebrities, Game Show, Casting, Reality-Free

In an announcement that most who remember the older versions of Password would consider a no-brainer, it has been revealed that Betty White will be returning as a guest panelist on CBS' new Million Dollar Password series. And, really, if she wasn't even being considered would it even be Password?

White, who is 86-years-young, was a staple of the original version of Password when it started back in 1961 as well as the revived 70s and 80s versions of the show. Much of that connection came from her marriage to original Password host Allen Ludden. White and Ludden were married in 1963 and remained together until his death from stomach cancer in 1981.

Permalink | Email this | | Comments

Would you watch a Marissa Jaret Winokur daily talk show?

Filed under: Celebrities, Talk Show, Dancing With The Stars, Reality-Free
On the theory that it worked for another actress who play Tracy Turnblad, Marissa Jaret Winokur is going to star in her own daytime talk show, just like Ricki Lake before her. (Can Nikki Blonsky be next?)

Marissa J, who's currently spinning, twirling and trying to look graceful on Dancing With the Stars, will be developing a syndicated yakker (industry talk for talk show) for Sony Pictures Television. The fact that another company is also doing the same thing for Marie Osmond means one thing: producers think that if you can dance, you can talk. That's a show business axiom, isn't it? Her show, if it flies, will be for fall 2009.

Sony has dipped in syndication before with the Wayne Brady Show, which failed to click but did win the star a Daytime Emmy. Marissa is already an award winner, grabbing the 2003 Tony as Best Actress in a musical for playing Tracy in the Broadway version of Hairspray opposite Harvey Fierstein.

Permalink | Email this | | Comments

Nip/Tuck: Rachel Ben Natan

Filed under: OpEd, Nip/Tuck, Episode Reviews

(S05E09) "I was never in any danger of being drugged by the gays." - Freddy

After a month off, Nip/Tuck is back. Only 14 of this season's 22 episodes were finished pre-WGA Strike, so it makes sense that FX threw that mini hiatus in there. I was really looking forward to this episode, and even though I liked it, there was still a lot of stuff that just didn't feel fresh to me. Recycled is probably more accurate. I love this show, but c'mon... Sean and Christian fighting over Julia is really getting old.

Gallery: Nip/Tuck - Season Five
<a href="http://"www.tvsquad.com"/photos/nip-tuck-season-five/431620/"><a href="http://"www.tvsquad.com"/photos/nip-tuck-season-five/431602/"><a href="http://"www.tvsquad.com"/photos/nip-tuck-season-five/431606/"><a href="http://"www.tvsquad.com"/photos/nip-tuck-season-five/431633/"><a href="http://"www.tvsquad.com"/photos/nip-tuck-season-five/431638/">

Read | Permalink | Email this | | Comments

AOL TV's Top 5 Awards

And there you were, thinking that the Emmys were the biggest and best awards any television starlet could hope for. Think again, because all those moments that should get awards are being honored at AOL TV. Some are actually important moments in television history (i.e. The Soprano's finale) but others are just mishaps or fights that the nominees hope audiences will soon forget.

AOL TV is calling it their Top 5 Awards. They provide five nominations but you decide who the winner will be. You can watch the video clips and vote for your favorites. AOL TV will release the winners on December 13th.

Check out the nominations and my predictions after the jump.

Permalink | Email this | | Comments

Nip/Tuck: Dawn Budge II

Filed under: OpEd, Nip/Tuck, Episode Reviews

(S05E04) "I was attacked by a giant wedge-tailed eagle in Calgary." - Dawn

The return of the best guest star Nip/Tuck has ever had! Say what you will about Rosie O'Donnell (I couldn't stand her on The View), but when she steps into the shoes of Dawn Budge, it's gold. She was one of the highlights of last season (not to mention Christian's first paying "escort" customer) and her trip to Los Angeles easily made this episode an instant Nip/Tuck classic. From her hang-glider scene when the eagle attacked her to the face she made when the "ass bandit" had his way with her, she stole every scene she was in.

Read | Permalink | Email this | | Comments

Drew Carey to host The Price is Right - BREAKING NEWS

Filed under: Industry, Celebrities, Game Show, Casting
Well, after all the hemming and hawing about who was going to replace Bob Barker on The Price is Right, we finally have a name.
Asked what he felt was missing from NBC's lineup, the new Co-Chairman, NBC Entertainment and Universal Media Studios, joked he wanted the chimes in the network's jingle turned up by 30%.

Silverman assures a reporter that he and Graboff are comfortable working side by side. "This wasn't an arranged marriage," he says. "We've known each other a long time."

Now, the cynic in me also has that little voice in the back of his head whispering Joanie Loves Chachi, Joey, and Richie Brockelman, Private Eye, but let's give this one the benefit of the doubt until we know more.

Rumor has it that FX is considering a half hour spinoff featuring O'Donnell's character from the upcoming season of Nip/Tuck. The as yet nameless series would be written by Nip/Tuck creator Ryan Murphy. There is no official word on the show at this time, but when asked if she was considering the show by a fan on her website Rosie answered 'yes'. Take that for what it is.

The new season of Nip/Tuck premieres September 5th on FX and will be covered each and every week here at TV Squad. More info on Rosie's Nip/Tuck character after the jump, with small spoilers.

[via The TV Remote ]

Permalink | Email this | | Comments

Rosie can't cut her hair

Filed under: ABC, Industry, Daytime, Celebrities

According to the contract Rosie O'Donnell signed when she was chosen to take overMerideth Viera's spot on The View, she will not be able to cut her hair while on the show. If you'rewondering what the length of her hair has to do with her ability to perform her hosting duties, well, you can keepwondering because it really has nothing to do with them at all. Apparently they just want to maintain a certainaesthetic on the show, and the chopped look she once sported toward the end of her syndicated talk show's run isn'twhat ABC executives are looking for. I guess if you're going to yak for an hour about nothing you need to look asglamorous as possible to distract from the fact you're not actually saying anything.
