Yep, Roommates is atrocious - VIDEO

roommates abc family As a TV Squad contributor who, admittedly, could be considered a "niche viewer" (in that I watch few shows, but never miss an episode), I was naturally hesitant to check out Roommates on ABC Family. A friend guaranteed me that the show was not only as bad as one might expect, but that it was so utterly, bafflingly wretched that investing thirty minutes in it turned out way more entertaining than I'd expected, and not just in the so-bad-it's-funny way, either.

Roommates is so atrocious, its production should be considered a criminal offense, considering that, even as a basic cable program, hundreds of thousands of dollars (at the very least) have surely been invested in the show. And that's money that could have easily gone toward refugees or food banks or, say, into the budget of ABC Family's other critically lauded programming like Greek or Secret Life of The American Teenager.

Four more seasons of drinking, nudity and irresponsibility coming to MTV

The Real WorldA few years ago, it looked like The Real World was on its last legs, didn't it? It seemed like people had other reality shows to watch, and it wouldn't have shocked anyone if MTV got rid of it because it had been on since the early 90s. But there has been a bit of resurgence with the Brooklyn season, and MTV wants more more more. The network has renewed the Bunim-Murray show for four more seasons. Not one, not two, not three, but four.

Penny Marshall, Cindy Williams to reunite for new show

Laverne & ShirleyNow here's an odd little news item.

TV Land president Larry Jones says that a new TV show is in the works featuring former Laverne & Shirley stars Penny Marshall and Cindy Williams. The two would play themselves and live in Marshall's house, where the show would be filmed.

This could be ... interesting -- or an utter disaster. But it does bring up a fun question: what other former TV pals would you like to see in a reality show? How about Dick Van Dyke and Mary Tyler Moore living together? How about Jerry Mathers and Tony Dow? Jack Klugman and Tony Randall would be great, but Randall passed away several years ago.

Readers? Maybe Suzanne Somers and Joyce DeWitt would be up for it.
