(S08E15) There's a reason why you don't see too many sitcoms do two-parters or one-hour episodes more than once every couple of years; the comedy momentum set in the first half-hour usually doesn't continue during the second. Although the second part of
Scrubs' Bahamas adventure was still pretty good, it definitely wasn't as funny as last week's first part.
But two interesting things came out of this episode, one character-based and the other actor-based. And, even though I had an inkling the latter was coming, it still surprised me when I saw it. More after the jump.

(S08E14) As Homer Simpson might say, "The
Scrubs are going to the Bahamas!"
For eight years,
Scrubs hasn't ventured all that much away from Sacred Heart and it's surrounding environs. There was an RV-based road trip to Washington so J.D. can see Kim, and J.D. somehow ended up in Las Vegas during an extended fantasy/reality sequence. But other than that, the gang's lives have been confined to the claustrophobic world of the hospital.
But Bill Lawrence must have figured, what the heck, it's the last season, so he shipped everyone down to the Bahamas for a well-deserved location shoot in paradise. And, I've got to tell you, part one is the funniest episode of the season (I've seen part two, and it ain't bad either). I'll tell you why after the jump.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: When you write about TV for a living, you'll never know what will land in your e-mail inbox. That's what I thought on Friday when I got this note from Robert Maschio, who plays sex-obsessed surgeon "The Todd" on
Scrubs:
"Hi Joel, I've been reading your review(s) of
Scrubs recently and I wanted to share a little inside info with you. As you know
thetoddtime.com was referenced in last night's episode (in addition to
rateyourdoc.org). I had been lobbying for months to have that website show the video of "The Todd Song" - a comedy rap song I wrote. At the last minute the (BS & P) business standards and practice said the video could not be shown there...alas, last night many people went to thetoddtime but there was nothing new there!"
The
NSFW video -- and more information -- is after the jump.

(S06E17) Bill Lawrence and company really seem to be on the back pages of the playbook, aren't they?
For the second time this season, we're out of J.D.'s head, this time hearing about the everyday thoughts of Ted, The Todd, and Jordan. We were already privy to Kelso's thoughts in an earlier episode, which means the writers are breaking the pattern of jumping out of J.D.'s head for an entire episode only once per season.
But, you know what? Sometimes, the last pages of the playbook have all the best plays. This was a funny and refreshing episode.
