Survive this: Rob and Amber have a baby

Rob_Amber_Mariano_CBSRomance on reality TV is rarely as real as the producers want us to think. However, at least one romance seems to be the real thing: Rob and Amber from Survivor.

They met on Survivor, thrived on The Amazing Race, flopped on their own show, but have remained a happily married couple four years after they wed. Now the game really begins for these two reality TV vets. Rob and Amber Mariano are the proud parents of newborn Lucia Rose.

Little Lucia was born July 4 in Pensacola, and chances are she's going to be raised as a Red Sox fan. Considering how difficult Survivor and The Amazing Race are, and how well Rob and Amber did on both shows, raising a kid should be a piece of cake.

Survivor's Boston Rob punches a heckler - VIDEO

Rob and AmberSometimes, even the auditions for reality shows can get controversial.

Survivor / Amazing Race contestant Rob Mariano ("Boston Rob") has been holding auditions for a new reality show he's producing called Tontine, and things got a little physical at a recent audtion in San Diego. Seems there was some sort of heckler at the audition who started saying things to Boston Rob. They got in each other's face, and a crew member tries to break up the two, but then all of a sudden Rob punches the guy, and the people filming it "oooo" and "ahhhh." Video after the jump (and check out the comments on YouTube, including a comment from the guy who stepped in the middle of the two and another guy who was auditioning at the time).

You never see this happen at the auditions for American Idol.

Rob and Amber not done with reality television

rob mariano; amber mariano; romberReality television has become a career for Rob Mariano and Amber Brkich-Mariano. Although they were eliminated on last week's episode of The Amazing Race, they recently gave an interview to People magazine about their plans for the future. Of course, it involves more reality television for the both of them. Mariano said that they couple may be back for a second season of their reality show, Against All Odds, and that they're also planning something that could "be huge".

The couple originally hooked up on Survivor: All-Stars, where Rob proposed to Amber when she won. Since then, they've been on a season of The Amazing Race (and almost won), and they also had a reality show about planning their wedding.

I actually like these two as a couple and I don't think they're bad people. I enjoyed them on Survivor and The Amazing Race, but I didn't watch their wedding show because I honestly didn't care. I like how Rob plays dirty and Amber pretends to be an angel until it gets down to the nitty gritty and she plays dirty, too.

Why can't Rob and Amber work for a living?

rob and amberReality show whores Amber and Rob Mariano are getting another reality show because it's better than having a day job. This time the newlyweds are going to the FOX Reality Channel for a docu-series, The Rob and Amber Project. Over ten, half-hour episodes, cameras will follow Rob as he moves to Las Vegas and attempts to launch a career as a professional gambler. Amber is just there to look hot, I guess.

If you wonder who on earth I'm talking about, Rob and Amber were both on Survivor and became a couple on Survivor: All-Stars, which Amber won. They placed second in The Amazing Race (the devilish side of me rooted for them) and they got married in a reality special last year. The Project premieres in January.
