The merchandise opportunities for classic shows like
Star Trek has been outlandish, to say the very least.
You can show your financial love for
Star Trek by buying
Star Trek toys,
Star Trek apparel,
Star Trek cell phones,
Star Trek Pez dispensers,
Star Trek burial coffins,
Star Trek living room furniture
and even
Star Trek erotic theme art. Don't click that last link if you're at work, school or don't really want to know what James Doohan would look like spread eagle on a Tribble skin rug.
Now the folks at
Genki Wear, a geek themed jewelry manufacturer, have helped the Enterprise explore a strange new world of merchandising and seek out new lifeline accounts and financial liquidations with a line of
Star Trek-inspired cologne and perfumes.

Fans of skanktastic television will love this news. Kim Kardashian and her ass, both stars of E!'s
Keeping Up with the Kardashians, are
launching a line of perfume. She announced this news on her blog, which, by the way, is one of my favorite blogs. It's wonderfully delusional and self-congratulatory.
I'll indulge you in a sample, "It has always been a dream of mine to start my own perfume business, since I love to mix fragrances together and come up with new and different scents! I hope you understand my
total excitement as I let
you, the readers of my blog, become
the first to know that I am creating my own fragrance!!!" I love the emboldened words and gratuitous use of exclamation points.

Not every woman can look like Salma Hayek, but every woman can smell like her. Just in time for the holidays,
InsideBayArea.com has released a list of the fragrances favored by television's leading ladies. Not everyone understands the appeal of expensive perfume, and nobody wants to be around someone doused in it. Perfume is an indulgence when you're penny pinching, but I've got to admit that it's one of my own weaknesses.
As you might expect, the perfumes on the list are ridiculously pricey, but at least, no one is wearing Britney's Curious for Women. I personally can't afford any of these scents - even in the 1 oz. bottle - but I can certainly "test" them at Sephora. Here are some list highlights:
The Gilmore Girls' Lauren Graham wears Fracas by Robert Piguet;
Men in Trees' Anne Heche wears Amaze by IsaDora;
Ugly Betty's Salma Hayek wears Narciso Rodriguez's For Her;
Big Day's Marla Sokoloff wears Trish McEvoy's #9; and
Brothers & Sisters' Calista Flockhart wears be by becker.eshaya.

While no deal has been reached just yet, a couple gossipy type sites are saying a top American cosmetics company is trying to woo Simon Cowell into launching his very own line of toiletries, including a perfume. This has apparently been verified by Cowell's publicist, so keep an eye out for various products with the name "Simon Cowell" on them designed to make you smell all pretty and stuff. I'm not sure exactly what products will be available if the deal goes through, but I assume they'll not only improve skin and hair, but also shatter your childhood dreams and viciously humiliate you as well. His publicist also says that a product with Cowell's name on it will generate a lot of interest, which I don't necessarily believe. If I need someone to tell me I'm singing
Arthur's Theme off key he's the first man I'll turn to, but I don't have any desire to purchase face cream from him.

While you can't actually smell them on television, the ladies of
Desperate Housewives must have a marketable stench because a new fragrance based on the hit ABC series is
coming out this autumn. Coty Inc. is teaming up with Disney and ABC to bring the fragrance to select department stores.
The perfume is supposed to "conjure up the smells of the ladies of Wisteria Lane." That sounds okay, I
suppose, if not a little bit creepy. I guess it makes more sense than a cologne that smells like the guys from
Prison Break.
