Why did 60 Minutes say that Andre Agassi was "only" talking to them?

Open, andre agassiWhen CBS promoted the 60 Minutes interview with Andre Agassi that aired this past Sunday, they said that he was only talking to one person, Katie Couric, as if this was the only place you'd be able to hear Agassi talk about his new book (Open) and the revelations that have surfaced (especially his crystal meth use in the late 90s).

So what exactly was so "only talking to one person" about this interview? KVBC did an interview with him about the book, he's on Live with Regis & Kelly tomorrow morning, on The Late Show tomorrow night, and he's on Jimmy Kimmel Live on November 23. He also did an interview with People.

Artie Lange news: He'll be a guest on Rescue Me

Artie LangeI don't know why I'm so fascinated by Artie Lange's career. Maybe it's because I listen to him every day on Howard Stern's Sirius radio show and I get a daily dose of Lange's everyguy persona and funny wisecracks. I'm also fascinated by the fact that, while he's doggedly determined to be a success in his comedy career, he is pretty much unable to resist just about every temptation known to man, from drugs to gambling to food to booze. Yet, no matter how addicted he is, he is so open about his life that he's been able to endear himself to the show's fans, and his career has taken off as a result.

Case in point: he announced this morning that he'll guest star on six episodes of Rescue Me this season, playing a fireman buddy of Denis Leary's character of Tommy Gavin. Perhaps this is part of the development deal Lange signed with FOX last year, as the show is on FX. But it may just be a part of the fact that, no matter what he gets into in his personal life, producers know that Artie has a following and can deliver a good performance. Either way, it's good to see him getting more and more work. He just needs to get some sleep and stop being so "sick," as he has been lately.

Nickelodeon to open Nickland in Germany

spongebobIf you find yourself at Movie Park Germany in Bottrop-Kirchellen this April, be sure to check out the park's latest attraction, Nickland. An agreement through Nickelodeon gives the theme park intellectual property rights to characters from SpongeBob SquarePants, My Life As a Teenage Robot, Dora the Explorer; Danny Phantom, The Backyardigans and Jimmy Neutron. Costumed characters from the shows will be on hand to greet families, and, if Germany's theme parks are anything like America's, they'll also be punched and kicked by small children.

The Nickland section of the park will include seven new attractions, including Jimmy Neutron's Atomic Flyer and SpongeBob SquarePant's Splash Bash.

Stephen Colbert Museum and Gift Shop to open in Alabama

stephen colbertEver the philanthropist, Stephen Colbert is extending a helping hand to the residents of Tuscumbia in Colbert County, Alabama by opening the only museum in the nation dedicated exclusively to celebrating, well, Stephen Colbert (he thinks the county was named after him). Starting November 27 and running throughout the week, The Colbert Report will show behind-the-scenes footage of the struggle to open the Stephen Colbert Museum and Gift Shop, and to thwart the efforts of people who want Colbert County to be remembered for Ivy Green, the birthplace of Helen Keller. Frankly, I'd love to see Colbert play Helen Keller in a production of The Miracle Worker, but that's probably just me.

As long as I'm on the subject of The Colbert Report, does anyone else think that Stephen's show is better than The Daily Show? I still love the Daily Show, and perhaps I'm just becoming too familiar with it, but I find myself more and more preferring Stephen's role playing as an idiot pundit over Jon Stewart's dry wit and occasional self-deprecation. Perhaps it's because Stephen never breaks the fourth wall that is constantly smashed to bits on The Daily Show. I still think there's room for both, but I find myself leaning more and more toward the Colbert Nation.
