Desperate Housewives: Me and My Town

Desperate Housewives
(S05E09) "We're going to protect our son." - Lynette to Tom

Two weeks ago, we were treated with what was supposed to be an important episode for ABC's Desperate Housewives, special effects and story-wise. No matter if we enjoyed the episode or not, it did set some wheels in motion. So after such an episode, I expected this week's installment to continue on the path set forth by "City on Fire." I wanted the detectives to bring in some people for questioning and make an arrest sooner rather than later, I hoped to see Dave try to wrap up loose ends so to not be accused and expected him to make a bigger move on Mike, I thought that there would be more drama for Porter and Anne. In short: I expected action. Sadly, the episode was a letdown.

Desperate Housewives: City on Fire

Desperate Housewives
(S05E08) "Hang in there. I'm not done with you yet." - Dave

There you have it, people. The most advertised episode of ABC's Desperate Housewives so far this season (we first heard about it in August) has finally aired. Even if I was entertained by Julie's return, Anne's storyline, Lee's joy after hearing dirt about Bree, and Virgina's antics, it was once again Dave's storyline that got my full attention. How should we interpret the new clues we were given thanks to Dr. Heller visiting Wisteria Lane?

Desperate Housewives: What More Do I Need

Desperate Housewives
(S05E07) "Knock it off!" - Gaby to a creepy, clingy and too generous Virginia

Last week
, I mentioned how I thought the arrival of Gail O'Grady, Frances Conroy and Lily Tomlin spiced things up on Wisteria Lane. This week, they definitely brought on new spice because the three storylines got more complex and twisted. Sometimes, TV series push guest stars down our throats for sake of ratings (see Britney Spears on How I Met Your Mother for a recent example). However, this is not the case with the three actresses guesting on Desperate Housewives. Tomlin is especially a delight to see in her role as McCluskey's sister and Conroy, as I've mentioned last week, finally gives the Solises a reason to still get air time.

Desperate Housewives: Mirror, Mirror

Desperate Housewives
(S05E05) "A night full of surprises." - Mary Alice about McCluskey's surprise birthday party

Mirror, Mirror on the wall, please tell me who's the most secretive of them all! The answer to this, when Desperate Housewives is concerned, is more than likely: it's a tie. Every character has a bunch of skeletons in the closet as well as tons of secrets. But based on this week's episode and, let's face it, since episode 5.01, Dave wins it all. The episode may not have focused much on Dave's mystery (more about the flashbacks later) but it did give us another glimpse at what the person is capable of and gave us a clue as to who is his target.

Desperate Housewives: Back in Business

Desperate Housewives
(S05E04) "Orson, we're partners. We share everything. Any success I have is just as much yours as it is mine." - Bree

It's no secret Bree is my favorite character. Yet, I didn't enjoy this week's Bree-centric episode that much. It wasn't bad but it's not one of the episodes I'll watch again. I get why Bree told Orson that they share everything and that any success she has is also his; after all, they are husband and wife. But what is Orson's share of Bree's success? He wasn't there when she launched the company and worked hard to make it successful. Does he really deserve a "we were named business woman of the year"?

Desperate Housewives: Kids Ain't Like Everybody Else

Desperate Housewives
(S05E03) "This guy is up to something." - McCluskey about Dave

There were much better lines said in this week's episode than the one I just put above (more on those lines later). However, what McCluskey said is what has been interesting me the most since the season premiere: what is Dave really up to. We get that he doesn't like McCluskey at all and that he is trying to befriend everyone on Wisteria Lane. But what is his ultimate game plan? Who is he really after and why? These questions, and the fact that Dave is so creepy and well played by actor Neal McDonough, help keep me glued to my TV during Desperate Housewives and make me think that Dave's storyline may turn out to be as good as, if not better, than Katherine's storyline last season.

Desperate Housewives: We're So Happy You're So Happy

Desperate Housewives(S05E02) "I think I just heard the milk go bad." - Andrew to Bree and Orson

That line Andrew said to escape an uncomfortable situation was funny but not that important in the overall episode. However, many Desperate Housewives characters could have said it this week as all of them found themselves in situations they would have preferred not to be in.

Susan had to face the fact that the men in her life met one another. Gaby tried to maintain her social status but ended up being the laugh of the party (well, Carlos was). An overworked and stressed Bree had to cook for a neglected and fed up Orson. McCluskey had to apologize the Edie in order to get her cat back. While Lynette signed a breaking up email with the words "Love, Mom." Ouch!

Desperate Housewives: You're Gonna Love Tomorrow (season premiere)

Desperate Housewives
(S05E01) "She's back!" - Lynette about Edie

Even if most of the Desperate Housewives fans knew well in advance that there would be a five-year jump in the season finale, many were left wondering what the hell would happen next. One of the questions Desperate Housewives fans wanted answered most was what made Susan and Mike divorce. Luckily for fans, we've got a pretty good idea what broke Susan and Mike up in this week's season premiere.

Producers dish Desperate secrets

Desperate Housewives promoLast season's Desperate Housewives' finale was pretty much a game changer. The denizens of Wisteria Lane jumped five years into the future and into completely different lives. Just to recap: Gaby (Eva Longoria Parker) is a mom, Bree (Marcia Cross) is the new Martha Stewart and is back with Orson (Kyle MacLachlan), Lynette's (Felicity Huffman) sons are juvenile delinquents, Susan (Teri Hatcher) has a new man and Edie (Nicolette Sheridan) is nowhere to be found. So basically things are a little ... different. Executive producers Bob Daily and Sabrina Wind discuss just how different life on Wisteria Lane is going to be this season.

Daily says that the five year jump has allowed them to wipe the slate clean, "We keep talking about this first episode likes it's another pilot. We're starting over and each woman has a new drive now." For more information on what to expect on Desperate Housewives this season, follow me after the jump.

WARNING: SPOILERS AFTER THE JUMP

Neal McDonough is Desperate's new man

Neal McDonoughOne thing you have to say about the powers that be at Desperate Housewives, they're really great with casting. Great looking guys, beautiful women, quirky character actors; we've seen them all on Wisteria Lane and usually they leave a lasting impression.

The latest name to check in to Desperate Housewives is Neal McDonough. He'll be appearing in the new season and Hollywood Reporter is wondering how he'd do with Nicolette Sheridan's character, Edie Britt. Is that wondering or playing matchmaker? How do we know that Marc Cherry isn't setting him up as a mystery man from Bree's past? Cherry is nothing if not inventive, so good luck trying to anticipate his plotlines!

Desperate Housewives: In Buddy's Eyes

Desperate Housewives
(S04E12) "A man is only as sick as his secrets." - Sign at the rehab center

When hearing that Bree and Katherine wanted to team up to plan the Founders Ball, Lynette said that she, someone who faced cancer and survived a tornado, was running from the situation. When I heard the idea of Bree and Katherine working together, I wanted to do only one thing: run towards it.

Desperate Housewives: Gossip

Mrs. McCluskey(S03E20) Oh, we are hurtling toward the finish at a frantic pace. Love it. So much happened in this episode, though, that it felt like a really long episode! But I think we are getting some things resolved. And that is nice, because I like closure. Let's talk about Edie first. When have Susan and Edie ever been friends? When Gaby asked Susan and Lynette to freeze Edie out, why would that have been a problem for Susan at all? She lives to snipe at Edie. But now, suddenly, she is Miss Forgiveness and Love. It must be a complicated relationship.

Desperate Housewives: Liaisons

Jason Gedrick(S03E18) Hooray! Desperate Housewives has hit its stride (finally this season) with a great, laugh-out-loud episode. I loved the roundabout way Edie and Carlos ended up together at the end of the episode. Maybe they really needed to feel connected as though they really were a family for things to click in the bedroom. What do you think Gaby is going to find out when she finds out that Carlos is with Edie now? I think she is going to flip. But will that separate Edie and Carlos? Or Gaby and Victor?

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that I think Gaby has finally met her match with Victor.

Desperate Housewives: Sweetheart, I Have to Confess

mike and edie on desperate housewives(S03E06) This episode was absolutely delicious -- like the sushi you enjoy the half hour before you figure out that it was bad bad bad and that you are going to suffer for a long time (I am referring to rumors about next week's episode. But as I have not seen it yet, I will refrain from repeating them here).

Let me start by doing a bit of psychoanalysis on Susan. Is she just the type of woman who cannot stand on her own two feet without a man, or what? Her love for Mike is just over (snap!) the minute she finds him in bed with Edie? He is a recovering coma patient and Edie is manipulating him-- if Susan really loved him, I think she would cut him a little slack. But how could she know that he was about to start regaining his memory (and Edie's nurse costume would be the key!)?
