Leno Weekly: Rod Stewart, Rainn Wilson, Martha Stewart & more!

Rachel GriffithsEvery show has an off-week. Unfortunately, for Jay Leno when he has an off-week, it takes up five hours worth of our time. Almost every guest was less than entertaining, and even most of the comedy bits missed this week. Luckily, there were some redeeming moments throughout, most of which I've included right here for you. See, I just saved you five hours of time.

With Rachel Griffiths appearing this week, it appears that ABC's ban on their actors appearing on Leno's show may have finally been lifted. Unfortunately, she couldn't bring along a clip of Brothers & Sisters, so I guess they're still feeling a little sour. Or NBC doesn't want to promote a competing network's show too much.

Koehler, SchaechLet's talk about cereal commercials (again).

I thought of all of the cereal commercials we've had over the years after seeing the latest ads for Fiber One. Yes, to answer your question, that is Kate and Allie's Fred Koehler playing the store clerk who calls the manager over after the customer has a question about the lack of twigs in his cereal (that's Koehler with Johnathon Schaech). At first I thought to myself, "why is he doing cereal commercials instead of TV shows and movies?," but then I figured, hey, we all have to pay the bills, and Fiber One cereal is good! I just saw a sequel to the ad that features new Fiber One/Yoplait Yogurt and in it you see Kathryn Joosten, a great actress who played Mrs. Landingham on The West Wing and Mrs. McCluskey on Desperate Housewives and...well, a million other roles. So it's actually very cool to see them doing this stuff along with their many other roles.

Stuff Magazine's wimpiest men on TV

Ryan Seacrest... WimpFunny little article on Stuff magazine's website; they list the five wimpiest men on TV. Yes, I said "wimpiest," a term that people probably haven't heard since their local Morning Zoo made fun of the competing radio station or Hefty last advertised its tough garbage bags. But it's an apt word to describe the fellas on this list; Mikey from American Chopper is the most manly of the five (he beat out Butters from South Park by a nose), and that's only because he hangs out in a bike shop all day.

Of course, if you're going to limit yourself to five wimps and include both Ryan Seacrest and Carson Daly, then you're not thinking hard enough. Both those guys are already in the Metrosexual Hall of Fame, so to consider them among the nominees yet again seems to be redundant to me. Where is Kirk from Gilmore Girls? Dr. Chase from House? J.D. from Scrubs? George O'Malley from Grey's Anatomy (hmm ... I sense a trend)? If you're going to mention a cartoon character, then other fictional wimps shouldn't be off-limits. Can you folks name more TV wimps? Let me know in the comments.
