Gilbert and Swayze in Little House on the Prairie musical

melissa gilbertLittle House on the Prairie confounded my young mind on many levels: first of all, I thought the series was an adaptation of the Michael Landon vehicle I Was a Teenage Werewolf, which led me to the erroneous conclusion that all werewolves are farmers. This is not true: most werewolves, like zombies, work in the service industry.

Also, because the show took place in the latter half of the 19th century, I assumed that's when it was filmed, too. It never occurred to me --keep in mind the show began two years before I was born-- that it was a modern show set in the past. I assumed it was a really old show and that anyone involved with it was probably long dead.

Nicollette Sheridan won't eat dog food

Nicollete SheridanNicollete might be desperate, but she's not that desperate.*

The ABC star was at a dog event the other day called "Dine With Your Dog Day," was supposed to eat dog food at the event, because Eight Is Enough's Dick Van Patten (his company sponsors the event) wanted to show people that "how delicious pet chow can be." Actress Linda Blair was there too and she didn't want to eat it either. Melissa Gilbert and Ross The Intern from Leno's show were there and actually sampled the doggie dinner. James Farentino was there too; no word on whether he ate any dog food or not.

(*And, yes, I know that technically Sheridan isn't one of the housewives, but I can't let a joke go by like that, can I?)

Nip/Tuck: Shari Noble

Dr. Christian Troy (Julian McMahon) with patient Shari Noble (Melissa Gilbert).

(S04E04) Talk about a great episode, one of the best Nip/Tuck's in a while. So much happened, it's hard to recall it all. But before anything else, I have to give the writer's a high-five with this episode because Shari Noble may be the most unique (and disturbing) patient that McNamara/Troy has ever treated. If you missed the episode, I don't want to give too much away but it did involve peanut butter and her dog. Use your imagination. Fortunately, Shari played a small role in this episode and plenty of other bigger stories unfolded.

Nip/Tuck lines up celebrity guests for next season

nip/tuckSeason four of Nip/Tuck begins on September 5th with a hefty list of celebrity guests. They are: Larry Hagman, Brooke Shields, Rosie O'Donnell, Catherine Deneuve, Sanaa Lathan, Richard Chamberlain, Kathleen Turner, Jacqueline Bisset, Melissa Gilbert, and Peter Dinklage. Earlier this month, Joel reported that Mario Lopez will also be a guest star, but he's not on the list released by the network.

Rosie O'Donnell is an interesting choice since she has long been outspoken about hating plastic surgery. Show creator Ryan Murphy points out that O'Donnell is on the show because she 'gets it'. He says, "The show is about the idea that, for the most part, plastic surgery does not solve your problems." I'm not sure what date Rosie's episode airs but you can bet she'll be talking it up with the gals on The View.
