At first, I was a little disappointed with this season's
So You Think You Can Dance. I found most of the routines underwhelming. Furthermore, Mary and Nigel constantly telling us that it's the "best dancers they've ever had" and the most "competition they've ever seen" is a red flag. I think most viewers, those with dance training and without, know
what they like and
why they like it. And viewers don't like being told they
should like something.
So I started thinking about my favorite pieces from past seasons. I thought about how I got goose bumps when Anya and Danny did the
Viennese Waltz. I remembered how Benji's solos always put a smile on my face. I'll concede that season four hit it's stride after this week. But, you can't argue that previous seasons, especially two and three, left a lot for these new dancers to live up to.
Some of my favorite pieces from Fox's hit show are after the jump. I'll probably come up with more but here's something to start you off. Enjoy!

Dancing With The Stars.
She floated effortlessly on the dance floor and made a mambo booty shake that caused an earthquake on the dance floor and took home the high score on last night's
Dancing With the Stars. If you missed it, you can watch her shake it in this clip of TV's Top 5! moment.
However, some women are not so graceful...

(S03E19) And it all comes down to this. If we flash back to the beginning of the season, I don't think anyone would really be surprised to see Mario in the finals. He and Karina came out of the gates as the favorite, and never let up. Emmitt on the other hand, I think that would have surprised a lot of people. Maybe it was because of Jerry Rice's performance, but I didn't give Emmitt near enough credit going into the competition. He's worked his way into the top two, and now has a legitimate chance at winning.

(S03E03) Back again, with more dancing, and less Tucker. The
big story this week leading up to the competition was whether Mario was being honest about his dance history. I think he was down playing his experience somewhat, but it really doesn't matter. At the end of the day, he's in the competition, and everyone is going to have to deal with it. And the dance is just a part of what gets a competitor through week after week, as we know. That said, on with the show. This week the celebrity men will be dancing the quickstep, while the celebrity women tackle the mambo.
