New season of Queer Eye coming this fall

Queer EyeI know, I know, you're thinking, "Whaaaaaa?"

Bravo's Queer Eye For The Straight Guy was cancelled a while ago, but there have been ten episodes of the show finished for quite some time now, and Whitney over at USA Today has found out that the last season of the show will start airing this fall.

Interesting how this show just completely fell off the radar, eh? People talk about this show the way they talk about "The Macarena." But it was a fun show there for a while. Oddly, the Bravo web site doesn't even have a page for it anymore, though they do have one for Queer Eye For The Straight Girl.

Tim Gunn steals Bravo job from five queer guys

Tim GunnI'm very pleased to share the news that Tim Gunn has signed a deal with Bravo to bring his fashion expertise to his very own makeover show. The program will be based around his upcoming book, Tim Gunn: A Guide to Quality, Taste & Style (set for May release). Gunn has promised to use the program to re-define "makeovers", which sounds like a pretty bold statement to make. But, then again, this is the all-mighty Tim Gunn. I have no reason to doubt the man. All hail Tim Gunn.

While this is all lovely, I can't help but feel a wee bit bad that this announcement was made just as Bravo canceled their hit makeover program Queer Eye for the Straight Guy (which was fantastic, but eventually exhausted). Looks like Gunn has to fill five very flamboyant shoes as Bravo's new makeover guy.

Gunn's presence in the next season of Project Runway still has yet to be confirmed, but at least we know that the worst case scenario will be that he'll only be on one program, not two.

Goodbye Queer Eye

Queer EyeQueer Eye For The Straight Guy, the once hugely popular makeover show on Bravo, has been canceled by the network. The series will have one last season coming up (titled Queer Eye: The Final Season). Design guru Thom Felicia gets his own show on the Style Network later this year.

This isn't a big surprise. Not only had ratings been dropping the last couple of years but the "buzz" that this show once had vanished completely. Personally, I got sick of all the "theme" blocks of episodes they did, like when the went to other areas of the country or did weddings. Nothing bores me more than planning a wedding, which I'm sure will thrill my fiancee in the future.

Why would anyone buy The Swan on DVD?

The SwanOn October 24th (six weeks later than originally announced), The Swan: The Complete Series will be released on DVD.

To be blunt, what type of person would buy this on DVD? Are there fans that loved this FOX show - a reality competition where women are given extreme makeovers, including plastic surgery - so much that they are waiting for it to come out on DVD so they can watch it again and again and again?

Seriously, I don't understand this at all. I think this show is for people who find Girls Gone Wild too intellectual and inspiring.
