A&E will celebrate the return of
Mindfreak (in it's fourth season, God help us) by broadcasting the
first ever live episode of the show. The special one-hour episode will feature Angel shackled to a six-story building. He must escape to a helicopter hovering over the rooftop as the building explodes. But wait, there's more. The fourth season kicks off one week before the live show with "Walk on a Lake," the season premiere. In this episode, the magician will attempt to walk on the world's largest man-made lake, Lake Mead in Nevada.
I think all the season premiere will prove is that Criss Angel definitely has a God-complex. He is the biggest megalomanic douchebag I've ever seen on TV. I think the best thing to come of
Mindfreak is that parody Mad TV did. I put the video after the jump.
The live
Mindfreak will air on July 30th at 10 p.m. ET on A&E. The season premiere will air on July 23rd at 10 p.m. ET. Will you be watching?

On the heels of
the Saturday Night Live stage show, the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in New York hosted a live reading by the cast of
30 Rock, with ticket proceeds going to show staffers who are out of work due to the writers strike.
According to accounts of the show -- most notably, from Rachel Sklar at the
Huffington Post and Dan Hopper
at the Best Week Ever blog -- every major member of the cast, including Alec Baldwin, was at the reading. An upcoming episode was read for the audience, and Tina Fey asked that the audience members not divulge the plot of that episode because "this show is like
Heroes and we don't want to ruin it for everyone else."

I went to the
UCB Theatre in New York on Sunday night to see their signature show, "ASSSSCAT." It was side-splittingly funny as usual; the group last night featured UCB founder and
SNLer Amy Poehler, Jack McBrayer and John Lutz from
30 Rock, Paul Scheer and Rob Huebel from
Human Giant, among others, and the guest monologist was Samm Levine
(Freaks and Geeks). I had a fantastic time.
But I kind of wish I was at the theater about 20 hours before that, when the entire cast of
SNL put on a makeshift version of their show, hosted by Michael Cera (we mentioned this show
when it was announced last week). Fortunately,
The New York Times was there, and they not only have
an article about the event, but a nice slide show as well.

I was going to do a post on how odd it was that Barry Manilow appeared on both Martha Stewart and Rachael Ray the other day, at the same time (live on Martha's and taped on Rachael's show), but one thing happened that I didn't realize when I was switching back and forth between each show.
Martha actually called Rachael out on it, live on the air!
According to the NY Post, Martha said this:
