TV Squad Live Blogging: The Emmys

Emmy award11:00: OK, that's it for me tonight. Things have turned bold for some reason and I'm hungry. I haven't eaten since...well, I had a handful of almonds around 5:30, along with a Diet Coke, but that's it. Check out more Emmys on AOL, with a full list of winners, behind the scenes info, interviews, and a ton of pictures.

10:57: Outstanding Drama, Mad Men. Yes!!!!!

10:56:
Tom Selleck delivering the Drama award? Random, but welcome.

10:55:
Two years in a row for 30 Rock. Does this mean great ratings? (Probably not.)

10:54:
Outstanding Comedy Series: 30 Rock.

10:53:
Mary Tyler Moore: attractive woman, really bad dress.

10:50:
...and the Emmy goes to Jeff Probst (Survivor).

10:45:

The Fey/Scorcese American Express ad is great...but not when you see it 30 times in one night.

In case you're wondering, I still haven't eaten anything yet.

10:32:

TV Squad Live Blogging: the Emmy nominations

Emmy Award9:23: Here are all of the nominations. Leave your comments below as to what should have been nominated but wasn't and the nominations that make you roll you eyes and say, "give me a break..."

9:22: I have a feeling James Spader is going to lose this year.

9:20: Battlestar Galactica fans will be happy to see a nom in the writing category.

9:18: So...no nomination for The Wire? That's going to make fans throw their TV sets through their windows (though TV sets are harder to lift nowadays...maybe they'll just kick them in). Still not sure why Jon Cryer is "supporting" and Charlie Sheen is "lead" on Two and a Half Men.

9:15: So I lied. Instead of reposting up here I just went back to the entries below (oh, the wonder of the internet!) and put show titles in, made them italic, made everything easier to read.

A letter to Anderson Cooper

Anderson CooperDear Anderson:

I was just reading about you over at TV Newser. I guess this is the new trend in TV news shows, anchors blogging live while their show is still going on. Greta Van Susteren over on Fox News has been doing it, and now you're doing it too.

You called Wednesday night's first effort "an experiment." As far as I can tell, you didn't actually blog during the broadcast, you just answered viewers questions in the comments section of the blog (if I'm wrong about this let me know), but I can see how you're all trying to connect television to the web, and I'm not sure how I feel about it. I blog all day for a living, but I'm not sure I want to see my TV news anchors live blogging while they're doing a live show on television.

Ask Tina Fey and Jack McBrayer a question

Tina FeyTonight at 8:30 brings us the season premiere of NBC's 30 Rock (or should I say NBC's Emmy Winner for Best Comedy 30 Rock!). We'll have a review later tonight, but I found out that after the show airs, stars Tina Fey and Jack McBrayer (Kenneth) are going to have a live blog at NBC's site, and if you head on over there now you can post a question for the duo. Who knows, maybe they'll answer it.

There are already over 100 comments on the blog, so many of the questions that you might want to ask could have already been asked, but hey, take a chance. Come up with something imaginative involving meteorology, or maybe ask Tina Fey what her favorite lunch meat is. Or maybe you can take the route taken by one of the viewers who posted a comment, who asks Tina if she can get the cast of the old syndicated sitcom Small Wonder (remember, about the girl robot?) on the show. Ahem.

Don't forget! Emmy nominations tomorrow morning

EmmyWe'll have full coverage of the Emmy Award nominations tomorrow (Thursday) morning starting just before 8:30 Eastern Time. That's 5:30am on the West Coast, where they announce the nominations. Crazy Hollywood people getting up so early.

In the meantime, head on over to AOL and pick who you think is going to be nominated tomorrow in several categories, including Best Drama, Best Comedy, Best Actor, and Best Actress. Then come back here tomorrow morning for the live blog and see how you did.

Tina Fey to live blog 30 Rock season finale tonight

Tina FeyFirst of all, I didn't even realize that tonight was the season finale of 30 Rock (or the first day of May sweeps, for that matter). It's hard to keep track of this new world where various shows end their seasons in various months.

Anyway, show star Tina Fey is going to live blog the season finale at NBC.com. It starts at 9:30pm Eastern. You can go to the site now and leave questions for Fey and she'll answer some of them.

Now, I wonder if Baldwin asking to get out of his contract (in fact, he doesn't want to do television anymore, period) was timed this week for the season finale. Does Baldwin have a contract beyond this season? I would assume so, since NBC has said they are not going to let him out his contract. Maybe Baldwin should do the blog with Fey. Imagine the questions he'd get.

Update: As reader Ender mentions in the comments, the show starts at 9pm, so maybe this isn't going to be a live blog "during the show" but immediately following the show.

Watch the entire 30 Rock premiere online

30 Rock promoIf you're doing something on Wednesday night, and you don't want to miss the series premiere of 30 Rock, no need to fret. You can watch the entire premiere, right now, at NBC.com. I guess it's part of the big promotional push the network is making for its other show about late-night sketch TV. And, judging from what people -- including me -- have seen from the pilot, it has the raw ingredients to become a very strong show. It just isn't quite there yet.

The Golden Globes? We've got you covered!

We'll have live blog coverage of the red carpet arrivals tonight, starting at 6. Just in case Scarlet Johansson's nipple accidentally slips out while being interviewed or someone on E! says something really stupid. We'll blog until 8, and then Cinematical takes over for the rest of the night with their live blog of the awards show. See you then!
