Here's some news that I'm ready to sing about! One of my favorite TV actresses is heading to Broadway.
Gilmore Girls' Lauren Graham will star in the revival of Guys and Dolls that opens in New York next March. She's not only going to be making her Broadway debut, she'll be doing it in one of the greatest musicals of all time. And she'll be playing not the ingenue role (Salvation Army missionary doll Miss Sarah Brown). No, she's smartly taking the very funny, very distinctive comic role as Miss Adelaide, lead singer/tootsie at the Hot Box nightclub!
For fans like me who always lamented the fact that Lauren never got the Emmy recognition she most definitely deserved for
Gilmore Girls, the prospect of her doing
Guys and Dolls could also mean she's got a shot at a Tony award.

Back on the night that Stephen Colbert announced that he'd be hitting Philadelphia, taking the show on the road for the first time, I had decided to go to bed early and just catch the rerun in the morning. My friend called me just as I began to doze off and immediately told me that she had gotten tickets for us to see Colbert in Philadelphia. I had no idea what the hell she was talking about, so when I hung up, I just shrugged it off as a late-night half-dream. The next morning, I watched the episode and it finally made sense: We were about to go on another
Colbert Report adventure.

So, while we've been speculating here on our own about
The Office spinoff, others are doing the same.
TV Guide's Michael Ausiello, one of my favorite TV chatters, was asked in
his column about said
Office spinoff and whether it may be the perfect spot for Lauren Graham. Hmm...very interesting.
Ausiello agreed with the writer, that especially in light of the
big deal Lauren inked with NBC, it makes sense. He wrote, "It would be insane not to at least consider Graham for the gig. Are you with me?"

About two years ago, I set out to list the hottest women on TV who are
over 40,
over 50, and
over 60. There were a lot candidates to choose from, even in the over 60 category, making it a particularly tough set of list to compose.
But now that our friends at AOL have decided to compile a list of TV's
50 sexiest women of all time (starting today with Nos. 50-41), I'm going to take on an even greater challenge: making one master list of seventeen beauties over 40. It's not as easy as you think; the TV landscape has changed a bit, and a few new strong contenders have recently entered their 40s, and a few of the previous list members have left the TV landscape. To make this list, a woman has to have been a regular or significant guest on a TV series or news program in 2007. So, after the jump, a list -- in no particular order -- of fifteen beauties who combine looks, maturity and grace to make one compellingly sexy package.
Thumbnails are with the list, but you can click on the gallery below to get a much better view of these lovely women. Then add your own choices in the comments.

NBC has nabbed Lauren Graham, now that her schedule is clear thanks to the cancellation of
Gilmore Girls. According to
Variety, the network has inked a seven-figure development deal with Graham in which NBC will create a series for the actress. The signing is one of the first big moves by NBC's new entertainment president, Ben Silverman.
Graham is no stranger to NBC, having roles on
NewsRadio,
3rd Rock From the Sun, and and
Seinfeld early in her career. She didn't say much about her big signing deal, but did say that she's happy about the direction Silverman is taking the network.

Are you a fan of
Gilmore Girls? Looking for a set of wheels to get you from A to B? Have at least 35 grand laying around? Then you can own one of two Jeep Wranglers used on the show.
Yep, somehow a private seller has gotten a hold of one of the Jeeps Lauren Graham used to drive around as Lorelai Gilmore and
has put it up for sale on eBay. How do I know it's a private seller? From the disclaimer in itty-bitty type at the bottom of the listing: "This sale is being conducted by a private seller. Time-Warner, Warner Bros., and Dorothy Parker Drank Here Productions are not invloved (sic) in this offering in any way."

(S07E22) This may not have been the way
Gilmore Girls was originally supposed to end, but, as it turned out, it was a pretty good way for it to go out.
When I think about it, ending the show in such a "rip off the Band-Aid" fashion was best for everyone, including the fans. We had only two weeks to cope with the show's departure, knowing that the finale was already shot and ready to go. Nothing we could do or say was going to change how we were going to leave Lorelai, Rory, Luke, and the rest of the folks in the
Gilmore world. Because of that, there was no speculation, no guessing. And there were also no grand moments, supreme life changes, and the obligatory scenes of someone looking back on an empty room before turning out the lights. It was very understated. And very satisfying.

(S07E21) So here we are... the next-to-last (or penultimate, if you want to use SAT words) episode of
Gilmore Girls. Like I said
when the show's demise was first announced, it seems like the show wouldn't be able to wrap up any of their loose ends, especially because the season was already in the can when the announcement was made. But
as we found out from one Ms. Lauren Graham, chances were that the show wasn't going to come back, anyway, and the last few episodes were written to function as a season
and series finale.

One of the big reasons why
Gilmore Girls is not returning for an eighth season is because Warner Brothers and the CW reportedly could not come to terms on new contracts for both Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel. So, it's not a big surprise to hear that Graham
is not sorry to see the show go gently into that good night. In fact,
she told Newsweek as much in this week's issue. "I think it's the best decision for the show," she told the magazine. "One of the things Alexis and I wished could be different was the schedule, and it really can't be."
(Update: Graham also spoke to TVGuide.com's Mike Ausiello about the show's end.)Continue reading Lauren Graham not sorry to see Gilmore Girls go

TV Squad HQ just received a missive from Warner Brothers and The CW. It's a joint statement that says that
Gilmore Girls will air its series finale on May 15th (A representative for Warner Brothers confirmed the note).
Yes, you heard me:
series finale. After seven seasons, it looks like both the studio and the network have decided to pull the plug and end the show. There were rumors floating around that co-star Alexis Bledel was not going to sign a new contract for an 8th season, and the show couldn't really continue without her. Given the middling quality of the episodes this year, especially in the extremely rocky first half of the season, this seems like the right time to end the show, though it now seems like we're in a rush to the finish line to try to tie up all the show's loose ends.
So, this means we have two episodes left. Do you think Rory will get married to Logan? Will Lorelai and Luke take that boat trip that Luke was going to go on with his daughter April? And do you folks think the show needed more time to resolve these storylines? Let me know in the comments. The joint statement is after the jump.

(S07E20) I really find it hard to feel sorry for Rory Gilmore. Yes, she grew up without a father for the most part, and for much of her young life, she and her mother Lorelai struggled to keep their heads above water. But, for the most part. Rory has been able to achieve whatever she's set her mind to achieving. Until now, of course.
There are worse things that can happen to a person than not getting a
New York Times internship: dismemberment, irritable bowel syndrome, bad haircuts, and at least a couple of other things. But she's gotten so much in her life that not having a job when she graduates seems like a complete disaster to her.

(S07E19) Rumors have been flying around for years that Lauren Graham and Scott Patterson don't get along really well off the
Gilmore Girls set. I've always wondered how things between them might go when the cameras weren't rolling. Would they be cordial to each other? Painfully polite?
Well, I'm wondering no longer. All I had to do was watch those first awkward scenes between Luke and Lorelai in this episode, and I now I have a pretty good idea how things are between this show's stars (if those rumors are true of course).

Sure, it's an unlikely pair.
Stars Hollow inn proprietor Lorelai Gilmore and Los Angeles counter-terrorism agent extraordinaire Jack Bauer. But the pop culture savvy Gilmore Girls writers found a way to link the two characters.
In a promo for next week's Gilmore Girls -- where Lorelai tries to reconcile with her former fiance Luke Danes -- she decides to bring Luke with her while she shops for a new car.
When the jaunt gets a bit tense and the two bicker like they used to do in previous seasons, Lorelai gets on her omnipresent cell phone and suggests that Jack Bauer should use car shopping with an ex as a way to torture terrorists.

(S07E18) Wow... I guess the whole "six-week spring break" tradition for
Gilmore Girls has been carried over from the WB to the CW. But we're back with what might be the final five episodes of
GG, and it looks like we're moving somewhat rapidly towards the series' inevitable conclusion.
But first, let me tell you why Taylor Doose is one of the most irritating characters in the history of television.

How can a woman play one gorgeous, mature, intelligent and down-to-earth woman after another for so long and
not get more attention?
That's what I keep thinking any time I see Connie Britton on screen. On
Friday Night Lights, Britton plays the Tami Taylor, the sexy, no-nonsense wife of Dillon Panthers coach Eric Taylor. In episode after episode, she showed that she is not only a loving mother and a caring school counselor, but that after years of marriage, she still has passion for her husband. But she also knew that she owns her life; in the next-to-last episode of the season, she told Eric that she wasn't going to follow him to a new job in Austin because she liked her job in Dillon.
Of course, this isn't the first time Britton's played the strong, willowy type. Remember
Spin City?Continue reading My TV Crush: Connie Britton
