Next year marks a changing of the guard for Conan O'Brien from
Late Night to
The Tonight Show. It'll be an easy transition for the fair-skinned one since he's already got a recipe for success: a die-hard audience, smart and inventive writers and puppets that curse.
The real challenge will be for Jimmy Fallon, Conan's
Late Night successor, who hasn't had much TV time since he left
Saturday Night Live for a movie career that made Chevy Chase's lineup look Lawrence Olivier-ian.
Variety reports that Fallon will first test the airwaves' waters instead of doing a full-blown cannonball by starring in some "webisodes" on
NBC.com starting Monday.

That's the finding of a researcher in Japan. He also discovered that surfing the web late at night can have an effect on your sleep habits. BREAKING NEWS!
OK, I'm being a little sarcastic here, but it seems like such an obvious conclusion that I'm sure you and I thought this was true even before any study was released.

Just when we started to get into this whole "who will replace Conan O'Brien" guessing game, we might have to find a host for another late night show: Craig Ferguson hints he might leave at the end of his contract.
Ferguson reveals to the St. Petersburg Times that he could leave at the end of his six year contract because he doesn't like being famous.
"I just don't know if I like being that visible," he said. "I don't know if I would want to ramp that up any more, you know. And people here find that, I think, quite difficult to (understand)."

Page Six
has a story today that says
Saturday Night Live head honcho Lorne Michaels was so ticked off that NBC was giving the green light to Aaron Sorkin's behind the scenes look at an
SNL-ish show (
Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip) that he demanded that NBC also give the green light to Tina Fey's sitcom about the behind the scenes goings on at an
SNL-ish show,
30 Rock. Michaels thinks that
SNL pretty much "made" NBC, and he couldn't believe that the network would pick up a show that was a satire of it.
