On Sunday night/Monday morning, [adult swim] premiered something called
Snake 'N' Bacon. What is
Snake 'N' Bacon? Well, I'm not entirely sure, actually. But I liked it. I think. Yes. Actually, I really liked it.
Like most [as] shows,
Snake 'N' Bacon is a fifteen minute program with its own distinct aesthetic, presenting an interesting mix of animated sequences with live-action bits. I never thought there would be a way to translate creator
Michael Kupperman's stuff on the small screen, but there we go. Weird, extra-funny, weird.

If you tune in to the premiere of the new
Comedy Central Presents... stand-up shows tonight, you'll see a couple of familiar faces in John Mulaney (11PM) and Kristen Schaal (11:30PM).
Schaal might be the easier face to place - her role as Mel, the lone groupie on
Flight of the Conchords expanded this season, to the point where Bret and Jemaine were actually living at her apartment for a while. Mulaney has done more work behinds the scenes writing for
Saturday Night Live (he's been on camera once or twice, in the fine tradition of writers like Conan O'Brien). But he's also been on shows like
Important Things with Demetri Martin and
Best Week Ever.
Both are worth catching for their stand-up acts. Schaal brings some of the quirkiness of her
Conchords character, without the creepiness. She's got a great, vivid imagination, which is easy to see in this clip about her dreaming of George Washington.

You guys, you guys!
Flight of the Conchords is back. The show saw huge success when it premiered on HBO way back in 2007, and the soundtrack has been a must for all comedy fans that have their iPods surgically attached to their ears. Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement have captured hearts with their awkward deliveries and showed the world that funny music can be original and catchy without sacrificing the jokes.
The second season will kick off in January, but the first episode is already available on FunnyOrDie.com. You can also click after the jump to watch the full episode (US only) and read some words that I thought up about it. Catch the episode before it goes offline in a few days! Naturally, spoilers ahead, as well.

The Daily Show for their
multiple Emmy nominations! Hey, Jon Stewart even grabbed a nomination for hosting the Oscars. Well done, well done. Awards night will definitely be interesting, as
The Colbert Report also got lots of Emmy attention, but in the very same categories as Jon and his team. I'm so torn between the two that I may have to avoid the issue all together and just blindly root for some other show.
Secondly, if you saw
The Colbert Report last night and felt a little embarrassed for Stephen Colbert for interrupting Rush's performance of "Tom Sawyer"... It was a
planned joke about the length of the band's songs. I cannot believe the number of people who went online to rip on Colbert for being clueless enough to do that. Come on, as if Colbert would screw up Rush's first American TV appearance in 33 years with something like that. I feel silly for even having to clear this up.

Usually respectable news institutions have been suffering after failing to fact-check breaking news.
Entertainment Tonight is no exception to this, making a boo-boo after
falsely reporting that Angelina Jolie's never-ending pregnancy has actually come to an end. This also knocked the credibility of Jon Stewart's "Ultimate Celebrity Baby Website" ("Is Jamie Lynne Spears' baby pregnant yet?... Verne Troyer: Sort of celebrity baby").

If you've been having trouble touching yourself recently, it may be because the Pope is in the States. Because he doesn't really have anything better to do, President
Bush picked up the Pope from the airport. More coverage has been promised for Wednesday night, so I guess anyone that was expecting some in-depth Popewatch was sorely disappointed.
"House of Pain" (the alternate was "Itty-Bitty Torture Committee", which is so much better): To further creep out the entire country, Bush admitted that six of the top members of his administration have extensively gone through what is
considered torture. No wonder CIA Director George Tenet and company have freely and happily repeated that the government does not torture. Their definition probably stops just short of killing the interrogation subject. Asf for Condoleezza Rice's chuckle-inducing evasive maneuvering from that interview clip, it really shouldn't have been so chuckle-inducing.
Ha-HA! Sadist government.
