The new season of Sesame Street is right around the corner and, while I normally wouldn't give it a second thought, I am unusually excited right now. No, this isn't a snarky rant about how I've been driven to children's TV because of the sorry state of grown-up programming. Sesame Street's 39th season, starting August 11th, looks like it has a lot of fun lined up not only for the pre-schoolers but parents as well. I already posted Feist's upcoming special take on "1 2 3 4", but I had no idea how many amazing guest appearances were coming. Just check out this star-filled highlight reel after the jump.Posts with tag kim cattrall

Sharon Gless: The TV Squad Interview
On my recent visit to the set of Burn Notice, I had the pleasure of meeting the cast, including the irrepressible Bruce Campbell, the plucky Gabrielle Anwar, and the fascinating star of the show, Jeffrey Donovan. They were all wonderful and I was thrilled to participate in a round-table interview with them. However, when I had the chance to shake the hand of Sharon Gless, the Emmy-winning actress who starred in Cagney & Lacey, The Trials of Rosie O'Neill and played amazing characters on Queer as Folk and Nip/Tuck, I have to confess -- I gushed. I couldn't help it. She's Sharon Gless! I discovered that as brilliant as she is a performer, Sharon Gless is also a class act with the media. She talked about another Cagney & Lacey, Tyne Daly, acting, playing villains, Kim Cattrall and much more. Read on and you'll see -- as I did -- why you'd gush to if you were face-to-face with Sharon Gless.

Kim Cattrall: The TV Squad Interview
Kim Cattrall is hot. Hot as in busy as well as in looking good. She's also smart, funny, observant and remarkably candid. Recently, I spoke with her for TV Squad about the success of the Sex & the City movie, her new HBO project Sensitive Skin, and a whole lot of other things, including Star Trek, aging, Universal TV in the 1970s and more.Allison Waldman: When Sex & the City ended, you didn't want to do the movie. Now it's done and it's a huge success.
Kim Cattrall: It's extraordinary. I look back four years ago when this was a runaway idea, I just did not feel ready to do it. We had reached such a high point, I wasn't sure I had anything else to say. I also had incredible personal challenges. My marriage was coming apart, also, my dad was diagnosed with dementia. I really needed a time out.
AW: How did the movie come back around?
KC: Michael Patrick King called and said, 'I'm writing something and I think you're going to love it. ...I think you were right to say no when you did because of whatever reasons you had.' See, I had never been public about my reasons I felt that it was nobody's business.

Kim Cattrall returning to HBO
It's a good week to be Kim Cattrall. Sex and the City was the number one movie this weekend, and it was just announced that Cattrall will star in Sensitive Skin, a new series for HBO. The actress is also serving as executive producer on the series, which is an adaptation of a BBC comedy. Cattrall will play the role of a middle-aged wife and mother who, according to the character description, "rediscovers her sexuality and begins to question her place in the world." The American adaptation of Sensitive Skin is set in New York. A middle-aged New Yorker exploring her sexuality--why does that sound familiar? The series is Cattrall's second post-SATC project for HBO; she produced and starred in the 2005 documentary Kim Cattrall: Sexual Intelligence.

The episodes to watch to get you ready for the Sex and the City movie

I tried and tried to get into Sex and the City, but two things stood in my way. One, I have testicles, and two, I just don't think the narrative was that strong. I thought I'd like it because it was about NYC and had sex and women in it and the main character was a writer, but it just never happened.
Of course, we now have the big screen adaptation of the series coming on May 30, and people who have never seen the show, but plan on seeing the movie (not sure who that would be, but maybe there are some), and fans of the show who haven't watched it in a while might need a primer. Well, BuzzSugar has taken care of that for you. They list the 12 essential episodes you have to watch before you see the big screen flick. There are two episodes from season one, one from season two, three from season three, two from season four, one from season five, and three from season six (this is in addition to the first and last episodes).
How many of you are planning to see the movie?

The first official trailer for the Sex and the City movie - VIDEO
Santa has dropped an early Christmas gift for the Sex and the City fans: the first official trailer for the movie! Sadly, it's a tiny 47-second gift that doesn't provide much insight in the four friends' lives especially for those of us who fed on SatC spoilers since the movie was announced. The trailer is after the jump.Don't get me wrong, it is a fashionable-looking trailer and it is really nice to see Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda still together but it doesn't provide much information on the movie other than the fact the ladies will be wearing various dresses and undergarments, that they will attend an auction, that Carrie will wear a wedding dress and that she still is with big. In fact, it's more a teaser than a trailer. Or maybe I'm just too spoiled on the subject! Let's hope the next trailers offer more for us to bite on.

Sexual Healing from a Desperate Housewife
It must have been those "I'm not a doctor, but I play one on TV" commercials that made people like Sex in the City's Kim Cattrall think playing a sexually-liberated character on television qualified them to dole out relationship advice to the masses. Between her tomes Satisfaction: The Art of the Female Orgasm and Sexual Intelligence, Cattrall is a regular Dr. Ruth. Lucky for us, it looks like she started a trend. Following is Cattrall's sexpert footsteps is Desperate Housewives' Felicity Huffman. On January 23rd, Huffman and co-author Patricia Wolff will release A Practical Handbook for the Boyfriend: What Every Girl Needs to Know. Felicity is one half of Hollywood super couple Filliam H. Muffman, or so she and husband William H. Macy were dubbed by Stephen Colbert. She obviously knew how to snag her man and, well, she plays a sexy lady on TV so what advice does she have to offer the unglamorous among us? Here's a peak:

Kim Cattrall is too raunchy for New Zealand
Kim Cattrall is going to play her Samantha character from Sex and the City until she dies, isn't she?Nissan has pulled a new advertisement starring Kim Cattrall from New Zealand television, following complaints about its content. In the ad, Cattrall makes all sorts of sexually suggestive comments about the new Nissan Tiida, saying thinks like "It's so big!" and "That great body and the way you moved it." While the New Zealand censors approved of the ad, the public did not.
Kim Cattrall to star in Elton John comedy
Kim Cattrall has agreed to star in
Him and Us, a comedy for ABC that is being executive produced by Elton John. The series is about a gay British
rock star and his longtime manager. Cattrall will play the role of the manager, a role that was originally written for a
man but is being rewritten for Cattrall. Elton John says he's a huge fan of Cattrall, who played sex vixen Samantha on
Sex and the City. Anthony Stewart Head, a British actor who most
recently appeared in Doctor Who, is tapped for the lead role of the British rock star.
