(S03E05) "Ah the Wedding March.... here comes the awkward pause." - Gossip GirlAs you can see from the picture above, Sonic Youth appeared on this very special episode of
Gossip Girl, spoiled by the official episode title, and performed their 1986 single "
Star Power."
As expected, Rufus and Lily hit a few bumps in the road before making the episode title come true. The episode also featured the return of Georgina, Scott, and Bree, which equals to blackmail, lies and drama. Three words that work very well in the world of Gossip Girl.

(S02E24) "If you think we're bad, you should have seen our parents." - Gossip Girl about those who complain about today's youthAfter weeks, if not months, of hearing about it, we finally saw what the
Gossip Girl spin off could be like. Set in the 80s, the spin off would star Brittany Snow as a young Lily, Krysten Ritter as her sister Carol, and Andrew McCarthy as their father. The action would, as expected, follow Lily's life as a young woman trying to make sense of the world and find her place in it.
This past week, the Internet has been filled with reports that the potential spin off was dead even before this week's episode aired. Other reports claimed that there was still a chance for the spin off to be picked up and find its way on The CW's 2009-2010 schedule. How about we don't listen to those reports and make our own decision on if the network should give the spin off a chance?

(S02E23) "This goes far beyond bad taste in boyfriends." - Lily to SerenaSerena's bad taste in boyfriends, tricks, and plans had her take part in a photo shoot she would have preferred not being a part of (see picture above for example). Even if we don't agree with why and how she took part in said photo shoot, we all have to admit that it was about time Serena paid for some of her bad deeds, no?

It's an easy answer:
both are getting prequels. The CW has commissioned a new show about the young life of
Gossip Girl matriarch Lily Rhoades (known in the show as Lily van der Woodsen, played by Kelly Rutherford) and will take place in Los Angeles in the 1980's. The May 11th
Gossip Girl episode will serve as a backdoor pilot.
Admittedly, I'm not a fan of the
Gossip Girl franchise, but this actually sounds like a good idea. It is taking the elements that make the franchise popular and adding a new, interesting twist by setting it into the past (a past that coincides with the childhoods of the parents of the kids that watch the show, making it a family affair).
The only tragedy of prequels is that you know what will happen to the characters. There is no way Lily Rhoades is going to end up dead in the prequel, as she has to be there for
Gossip Girl. is she did die in the prequel, it would create a paradox and go into
Star Trek territory.

(S02E11) "Guys, I can't breathe." - JennyThis quote said by Jenny wasn't the best quote of the week. However, it was the one I have been waiting to hear for weeks! As you know, if you've been reading my reviews, I did not enjoy Bad Jenny one bit so it was about time Jenny came back home and get her life back in order. As much in order as one's life can be on
Gossip Girl that is.

(S01E18) That's it.
Gossip Girl is done for the 2007-2008 season.
The show's season finale left me on my appetite. It didn't end with a huge bang, it didn't left me with tons of questions I wanted answered now, it didn't make me want to rush to the water cooler to chat about it with my friends. Actually, it made me wish that the series had concluded its first season with "
All About My Brother," an episode that ended with a huge bang and would have served as a better season finale.

(S01E17) "We're here to help Serena no matter what the problem is." - BlairAfter a "wow"
episode last week, expectations (at least mine) for this week were pretty high. I had loads of questions about the video and hoped that answers would be giving in "Woman on the Verge." The episode definitely met my expectations and set the scene for what could be an action and drama packed season finale next week.
What I liked most about this week's episode is the "no matter what" friendship seen between Chuck, Nate, Blair and Serena. They were able to put their problems aside and work together. As the saying says, "A friend in need is a friend indeed." The quartet definitely proved that saying this week.

OMFG."

It's that time of the year again. Time to put away the bathing suits, winterize the boats, and start thinking about getting the big coats out of the back of the closets, at least up here in the Jet City. While it will be sad to see those long summer days fade into fall, the silver lining is a truckload of new and returning shows, all set to debut.
One of the first out of the gate is
Gossip Girl, which premieres next Wednesday at 9 on The CW. They were nice enough to send a copy of the pilot over to TV Squad HQ, and I couldn't resist the possibility of a good teen drama, so here is an early look at what the fifth network has cooking.

The CW's got some funny sitcoms both old (Everybody Hates Chris) and new (Aliens in America -- more on that later), but the network's funniest asset is Paul McGuire, executive vice president, network communications.
Before introducing Dawn Ostroff, president entertainment, The CW, McGuire fires off some zingers to get the reporters up and running.
Of the recycled tote bags that The CW gave to the press (perfect for hauling all our cable swag home), McGuire quips, "They're made entirely from recycled billboards, including some from Hidden Palms -- or as some dirt bag reporter called it -- 'Hidden Ratings.'"
